Here is Holly and her sweet new pup, Benji, who she will be taking home this weekend!!
Benji has had all of his preventative care needed so far here at FAH. Holly can’t wait to have her little man at home!! ❤️

Did you know puppies should be dewormed at two and four weeks old, with shots beginning at six weeks of age?

Call to set up your furry family member’s preventative care (or any other needs 😉) with us @ 337-824-0703 🐾

Happy Secretary’s day to the lady who helps keep us working at FAH! She’s been here for the long run and will always try to help our clients and patients! Thanks, Mrs. Vicki!

Holly is her right hand woman and we appreciate her just as much! Holly always wears a smile and will do anything to get your pet seen ASAP.

Without these ladies, we would have a very hard time doing our jobs! 💜🫶🏼

We would like to wish a very happy birthday to Dr. Anna Heinen!
Dr. Anna is always ready to lend a hand and help those in need as much as she can. She has great communication with the other doctors and technicians especially about cases. Another wonderful thing about her is her optimism. We are so thankful for Dr. Anna!!
Please join us in wishing her a happy birthday! ❤️

Here’s another case for y’all…
Bubbles, this sweet 7 year old female lab, presented to us for not being able to walk and not doing well. After examination and blood work, Bubbles was diagnosed with pyometra or in other words, a severe infection in her uterus! This illness can be prevented by spaying your pets early in life. Did you know that spaying your dog before her second heat cycle can also dramatically decrease the chances of breast cancer?
It’s worth it to get them fixed!
Bubbles is currently doing well and will be able to go home soon. ❤️

Pictured is Bubbles and our new technician, Mckenzie, who helped saved Bubbles’ life!

Everyone should meet Tank!!!

**Warning: first picture of Tank when paralyzed**

When he was a puppy, Tank presented to FAH with Tetanus! Thankfully, Dr. Heinen recognized his clinical signs quickly and made a prompt diagnosis. Tank spent an extended time with us for supportive care and medical treatment to fight this awful disease. Tank made a full recovery and it’s all because of the staff at FAH and his dedicated owner! ❤️

Here are the kind words from his owner:
“Tank made a year old! I know for a fact that if it were not for Fontenot Animal Hospital he would not be here today! I don't know how to thank everyone at Fontenot Animal Hospital for saving my boy's life! I know that the immediate diagnosis, the love, and excellent care that Tank received from the moment he entered the office saved his life. He was so sick and it broke my heart to see him totally paralyzed. I could feel the love and concern from everyone. The way you loved him and SPOILED him made an impact on me as well as Tank. Even a year later he still gets so excited to see ya'll! I'm so sorry he gets so happy he potties! Thank you each and everyone of you! You have my eternal gratitude!”

Hamilton has been having some trouble with FLUTD or feline lower urinary tract disease. In male cats, this can be life threatening if the urinary tract becomes obstructed.
After many attempts of hospitalization, diet changes, and medication, Hamilton’s owner and his team of veterinarians agreed that a surgical procedure called a perineal urethrostomy was Hamilton’s best chance for good quality of life.
So far, Hamilton’s recovery has been smooth and he will be able to go home when he is healed from surgery!

Another part of our team that we believe should be recognized is Dr. Jody’s lab, Henry!!

Henry has saved many lives at FAH by donating his blood to our patients that are in need. Henry’s favorite part about blood donation is the special snack he gets after being such a good boy. 🦮💛

Thank you, Henry!!! Truly a life saver!

We would like to wish Mrs. Lindsey a big HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

Lindsey has been with FAH for as long as anyone can remember! She is always calm, cool, and collected - especially when we are in a pickle, which is so important to have when the job still needs to be done! She is our go to gal for any questions, especially those related to inventory, bloodwork machine errors, X-ray machine difficulties, what the doctor may want in a certain situations and SO MUCH more!! She’s a very versatile employee, from collecting blood on the tiniest veins to making sure we have everything we need in the hospital to keep it running efficiently.

We truly could not function without Mrs. Lindsey and we are thankful for her everyday. We hope she has the happiest of birthdays. ❤️

Vet tech appreciation day #5….Alyssa!

Alyssa has been at FAH for 4 years. Alyssa has a bubbly personality that can make anyone smile. Alyssa’s favorite part of work is giving treatments and fluids to our sick patients that need that extra one on one time. Alyssa will do whatever she can to help the doctors get the job done, including going to Walmart and getting tuna for a sick kitty. 🤍
When Alyssa isn’t at work, she is spending time with her family and her sweet Boykin Spaniels!! Alyssa will happily try to convince anyone why Boykin Spaniels are the best dogs.

We are so so thankful for Alyssa and the smile she brings to work everyday. ❤️

Don’t worry, we have some more…vet tech appreciation day #4…. Emilie!

Emilie has been with us for a few months now. Emilie is actually a member of the Army and we want to firstly thank her for her service. 🇺🇸🤍
In addition to being in the Army, Emilie is a excellent vet tech with us at FAH. She stays on top of her duties and is eager to learn everything she can in vet med. Emilie hopes to pursue veterinary school in the short future and we can’t wait to see her prosper in this truly wonderful occupation. We have no doubt that Emilie will be successful in the coming time.

Emilie loves pugs, especially her own, and will sprint to get to the exam room if pugs are involved lol!!!

Thank you so much for choosing FAH to gain knowledge and experience in vet med. We appreciate Emilie so much! ❤️

On to Vet tech appreciation day #3…. Abbi!!

Abbi has been at FAH for almost 3 years! One of the best things about Abbi is her sweet demeanor and empathy towards others. Abbi always puts herself in the other person’s shoes and tries to figure out the best solution for problems. Abbi is a very dependable person and will help with emergencies on the weekends at just a call’s notice. Abbi also notices small details that really help with the doctor’s plan for a patient. Abbi is a team player who gets the job done despite complications that may arise.

We are so thankful to have had Abbi all these years and we hope we have many more with her. ❤️

Happy vet tech appreciation day #2!!!

Today we would like to highlight Lainey because she always is a highlight to our day!!! ☀️

Lainey has been at FAH for a little over a year. Lainey is not only a vet tech, but also our kennel tech for the weekends. This means she works very closely with the doctors 7 days a week! She is an extremely hard worker and catches on very quickly when learning new things. Lainey will do anything possible to make sure an animal has good care. If anyone is feeling down, Lainey always has a listening ear or a shoulder to cry on. Lainey also will not miss a beat to encourage a coworker when they feel frustrated or overwhelmed.

We are so fortunate to have Lainey at FAH. We couldn’t imagine not having her!

This week is national veterinary technician appreciation week! Our hospital could not function without these girls.

Everyday we will highlight one of our technicians ❤️

Today, we will talk about Amanda!! Amanda has been at FAH for almost a year! She has one of the biggest hearts and will always be there to lend a hand. She gets along with everyone and our clients love her friendly face and personality. She is always working on improving her skills which she has become very efficient in. Our patients also love her so much. Amanda also has a beautiful family that are just as nice and sweet as she is.

Please join us in celebrating our technicians this week! ❤️

As many of you are aware, our practice has recently grown to three veterinarians. With this being said, if you have a preference to see Dr. Fontenot, Dr. Anna, or Dr. Hannah, please make that request upon scheduling your appointment. If you do not have a preference, the next available veterinarian will happily see you. Communicating with us ahead of time will help us give you the best experience possible at Fontenot Animal Hospital.
