The purpose of this course is to introduce basic obedience strategies. You will learn how to communicate with your dog in a clear and concise manner that enables your furry friend to know what you want. This will help you both to build a calm and con
fident relationship by establishing a firm “pecking order”. Sit, down, stay (crate train)
- Skill: basic obedience “tricks”
- Purpose: estatablishing clear and concise communication with your dog. Leave it
- Skill: leaving an object of their desire and instead focusing on you.
- Purpose: teaching your dog how to focus on you and not an object of their desire/distraction. Walking/leash work
- Skill: not pulling on the leash and being able to ignore “distractions “ while keeping pace with you.
- Purpose: practical application of ignoring distractions, obedience, and trusting their handler. Socialization
- Skill: being able to play with other dogs and/or children
- Purpose: learning how to read canine behavior and recall your dogs attention. Further practical application of previous lessons. Intermediate - $40
The purpose of this course is to teach you and your dog how to move beyond basic obedience. You will learn how to encourage your dog to learn new things by building on their play and reward drive. At the same time you and your furry companion will gain experience with the concept of waiting. Finally, we will explore the difference between leisure time and time to “work”. Speak (introduce new commands)
- Skill: bark on command
- Purpose: basic knowledge and application of how to teach new tricks. Spin to heel/guard
- Skill: spinning to change position when standing
- Purpose: teaching your dog to spin while re-positioning to heel and to change position to guard. Helps keep their four legs from tangling in your two while walking. Heel/Guard vs with me or off leash
- Skill: being able to switch from casual walking to focused walking or learning to stay with you when off lead.
- Purpose: learning the difference between a casual walk/down time and when it’s time to “work”. Place
- Skill: going to where you point on command and waiting for you.
- Purpose: practical application of new trick, off leash, and “working”.
