Local one-on-one dog training Syllabus
The following is just a basic guideline. Establishing the pecking order.

I am more than happy to customize each session and even the overall flow of the course to your needs and the needs of your pet. Beginner- $50/session
The purpose of this course is to introduce basic obedience strategies. You will learn how to communicate with your dog in a clear and concise manner that enables your furry friend to know what you want. This will help you both to build a calm and con

fident relationship by establishing a firm “pecking order”. Sit, down, stay (crate train)
- Skill: basic obedience “tricks”
- Purpose: estatablishing clear and concise communication with your dog. Leave it
- Skill: leaving an object of their desire and instead focusing on you.
- Purpose: teaching your dog how to focus on you and not an object of their desire/distraction. Walking/leash work
- Skill: not pulling on the leash and being able to ignore “distractions “ while keeping pace with you.
- Purpose: practical application of ignoring distractions, obedience, and trusting their handler. Socialization
- Skill: being able to play with other dogs and/or children
- Purpose: learning how to read canine behavior and recall your dogs attention. Further practical application of previous lessons. Intermediate - $40
The purpose of this course is to teach you and your dog how to move beyond basic obedience. You will learn how to encourage your dog to learn new things by building on their play and reward drive. At the same time you and your furry companion will gain experience with the concept of waiting. Finally, we will explore the difference between leisure time and time to “work”. Speak (introduce new commands)
- Skill: bark on command
- Purpose: basic knowledge and application of how to teach new tricks. Spin to heel/guard
- Skill: spinning to change position when standing
- Purpose: teaching your dog to spin while re-positioning to heel and to change position to guard. Helps keep their four legs from tangling in your two while walking. Heel/Guard vs with me or off leash
- Skill: being able to switch from casual walking to focused walking or learning to stay with you when off lead.
- Purpose: learning the difference between a casual walk/down time and when it’s time to “work”. Place
- Skill: going to where you point on command and waiting for you.
- Purpose: practical application of new trick, off leash, and “working”.

What will your puppy learn the first time we work together? Yes, sit and lay are the basics, and most puppies figure out how to do at least one by themselves. But can you really get them to do it on command? Or is it just when they feel like playing? Our first session explains all about rewiring the doggy brain to want to do what you’re asking them to. Buddy the 5 month old GSD is growing into his big ol’ ears AND his big ol’ brain! Smart, working breeds need a lot of training, stimulation, and patience while they’re this young and adorable. But once they’ve gotten that down, these are the BEST dog breeds to have!

Sorry for ghosting this page! As we move into our spooky season, I want to spend this month getting your pup ready for kiddos to be ringing the doorbell all night! We can teach them to join in the fun as they show off their brand-new tricks before handing out some lovely puppy breath-scented kisses as treats. This year, All Hallows Eve is for the dogs!

Your typical odd couple style best friends! Koda (left) is a tall, charismatic extrovert. Brutus (right) is a petite, sweetheart of an introvert. What brought them together? Their love of reverse caroling! They simply LOVE to sing at the top of their lungs to anyone who come to the door. We’re trying to find other ways for them to impress their guests.

This is Nelson who currently lives in kennel boarding at the charity of Friends Furever Animal Rescue. He’s been there for months and MONTHS despite the fact that he is an absolute sweetie pie! A tough life has made it necessary for him to be an only fur-child. But he is good with dogs and cats he encounters outside his home. Dwayne and I got a work out tonight! We worked on learning the difference between a walk and a race. In just a week, he has become SUCH a good listener. Can’t wait to see him again next week 😁

Mr. Bear here LOVES to protect his Momma while on walks! Today he learned that if he wants to have her back he’s got to keep a bit closer. He’s not ALL good looks and big muscles though! He picked up on the better walking habits SO fast he might just be equally as smart as he is handsome! Idk though… pretty hard to beat that smile 😊

Tip: if you’ve got a strong pup that pulls on a flat collar, harnesses and safety collars not only naturally curb that instinct but keep your best pal from hurting their windpipes.

They may look big and tough, but Moose and Katsu are giant love bugs at heart. These two stud muffins have learned to focus SO much better and faster in just one week!
