Responsible Breeding...
I am a dog breeder...better yet I am a responsible and respected breeder of Bernese Mountain Dogs. I spend countless hours researching pedigrees, a lifetime studying genetics and learning from those in my breed and those outside of it. I raise each litter as if I gave birth to them myself and spend an equal amount of time finding them loving forever homes. I only put animals on this planet that I think will be the healthiest (mentally and physically) and best examples of their breed. I support each family who choses one of my babies and let them know they are now a part of my extended family. I love and cuddle each baby when they are born. I celebrate their wins in shows. I worry about them when they don’t feel well. I am there if one needs to come back. I am here to answer any question or address any concern that new family might have, for the entire life of that dog. I share my knowledge, socialize every puppy and show my dogs so that they will be the advertisement for my dedication to the breed. I do not sell puppies via this FB page, by the time a litter announcement hits this page you can rest assured that these puppies already have loving families waiting for them.
I don't keep track of the money and time I put into my love of them, it would not be a true measure of how I feel. The price I charge for my babies is never profit, but investment in the next generation. So please NEVER insult me by saying you can buy one cheaper from another breeder. Amish puppies come cheap...mine do not. And NEVER insist you need to have a puppy during a certain month of the year...none of us, including Mother Nature, work on your time table, unless you're a puppy mill, they produce 24/7/365. I am not ashamed of who I am... I work hard at being a good dog person, a responsible breeder and I encourage others to be the same.
How do you do it? How do you find a puppy from a responsible breeder? Find someone who you respect, find someone who comes with references, find someone that you can be connected to for the lifetime of the dog...then ask questions and find out more about their dogs, ask to SEE health certifcations, ask to SEE Championship certificates, ask to come visit the dogs and SEE their home. Then get on their list, stay in touch and most important, be patient. Good things come to those who wait :)
