PSA - Myself and Christy Schrepel ,Owner of Timshel Farms will begin the process of merging farms this season under a new banner( more on this later in the year). We will be operating on the opossum bottom property this year and are looking forward to expanding our cultivated area hopefully this fall/winter. We are already expanding our market presence to , , and . And hope to continue to expand our garden and farm start operation. We completed our new plant nursery this winter and are opening new ground on the property to help expand our production volumes. This merger will be the beginning of a new chapter in farming for both myself and Christy as we were both 1 person operations, but at the same time we also had a lot of volunteer help that I have to mention as they made a crucial difference in helping keep the farms upright when things got out of hand. So Thank You! to all those that gave their time and effort to help make the farm what it is today. You know who you are!

I've been asked many times about why we do not use no till. Well here is the reason. All this rock came out of a 30 inch pass with the bcs. We went back through 6 more times over the same path and continued to pull rock out for a total of 17 wheel barrow loads. We had to do this over again each time I made a new pass. It'll take several years and about 12 yards of compost to get these 4 beds properly cleared of rock and the soil properly conditioned.. it will never be rock free as rocks will be continually pushed up due to natural ground pressure and the freeze thaw cycle. No till is simply not possible here.

Lost a tunnel today during the winds. Had the front end wall open while I was harvesting and the rear end wall was closed up. Took at least a 60mph gust directly through the front end wall that knocked me down and inflated it. Salvage tomorrow.

New nursery is getting near operational. The main wall is built, the block seams are sealed. Lots of insulating still to do and hanging ceiling tiles today. Grow lights go in after the ceiling and insulating are done. Still have to run water and more electricity to it but it should be operational very soon.

Accordion type tomatoes are quite the unsung variety in the tomato world. This particular variety is second to none for salsa and roasting. You can also stuff it with fresh mozzarella, basil, black pepper, roast it and serve with a really good sourdough.
They are tough to grow as they are highly susceptible to BER and do not produce a lot so when you can find them grab them and try them!

New nursery under construction. Starting with the hot room and then getting the grow area going. An interesting variety I'm growing this year that has really pronounced antho when you expose them to heavy sun. They are definitely showing a lot of black and purple. The shaded side will go a mahogany red with a pink flesh. Very large plum type. A small sample harvest for taste testing. Spanish browns and Hearts of Ashgabad showing some color.

Finally the color is starting to come online. Just what we have been waiting on!

Maters just about there. Lots of varieties from cherries to plums to saladettes to slicers to stuffing and paste. We're getting color on some so hopefully they will be ready in the next couple weeks. With the cool nights we've been having it's really slowed the ripening process down but it looks like the heat is here over the next few days so that should help push them.

47512 Veg Starts this spring. Maxed out the nursery and then some. The current nursery is being decommissioned this fall and the new nursery coming online late fall to mid winter to handle more capacity. New nursery will be climate controlled with a separate hot room that should handle 400 to 500 flats sprouting at once when in full production. More to come on that project.
