Job Opportunity: Pet Sitter & Farm Care Specialist
Part-Time Position with The Prefurred Pack

Are you an animal lover with a passion for pet care? The Prefurred Pack is looking for a reliable, detail-oriented individual to join our team!

Availability Requirements:
• Saturdays and Tuesdays through Thursdays
• Occasional Sundays
• Availability for overnight housesitting assignments

What We’re Looking For:
• Previous experience with animals and/or farm care is highly preferred
• A compassionate, patient, and professional attitude toward pets and clients
• A reliable mode of transportation
• Strong communication and time-management skills
• Willingness to travel around tricities for visits

What You’ll Do:
• Provide loving and attentive care to pets, including dogs, cats, farm animals, and more.
• Administer medications, if needed (training provided)
• Complete GPS-tracked visits with client reports using our pet care software
• Maintain a clean and safe environment for the animals
• Overnight housesitting when required

Recently we received some heartbreaking news that we had lost one of our dear friends, Hops. It has taken me a few days to process his loss but I wanted to make a post in remembrance of him.

We have had the absolute joy of caring for Hops weekly for over 5 years. There are countless memories and so much joy that he has brought to people over these years. I can say with confidence that Hops had the purest and sweetest soul of any animal I have known. He was the epitome of love and pureness. He was always happy and loving even when battling one of the worst diseases. Some of his greatest joys were being loved on and chasing after his brother to take his frisbee.

He was just a puppy when we first met and just as we were able to witness most of his life, he was there as we too grew and evolved. Every person who has been a part of our team has loved him and his loss is heavy.

Hops was blessed to be loved by the best parents who gave him absolute best life. He was adored beyond measure. He was diagnosed with cancer and his family sought out the best treatments for him and stood by his side through the chemo and all the challenges the diagnosis and treatment brought forth. He could not have been more loved and adored.

It was such an honor to be a part of his life over the years and I can honestly say how he made my life better by knowing him. He will be sorely missed. Please keep his family and all that had the joy of knowing him in your thoughts as they grieve this tremendous loss.

Below are just a few of the thousands of pics and memories we have of him from the time he was just a small pup to recently. I love you Hops, and I’ll see you on the bridge. 💗

I will never be able to describe the power of time spent cleaning stalls.

During this time I have made some of the biggest decisions in my life. I have silently thought my way, step by step, through some of the biggest disasters of my life. I have ugly cried my way through heartbreak all while cleaning stalls. I’ve thrown bags of sawdust in range as I thought about all of the difficult things going on in my life. Each stall has oddly given me a place of comfort as I stood, fork in hand, feeling empty during the times I’ve felt so alone. It has taught me to appreciate the serenity of the quiet. Realizing the ones in my life I can count on and the numerous fake people who are only present when convenient for themselves. I’ve enjoyed a free gym membership, as I’ve sculpted my back and shoulders into “he man”, just sifting away. I’ve stumbled my way, dry heaving, with sunglasses ....cleaning stalls through morning sickness, because god forbid my best friend be forced to stand in a dirty stall. Today I spend my morning cleaning stalls and processing my life. I’m mentally making life changing decisions, as I write this post, knowing that whatever I decide, it will be the right one, as it was made in a stall.

I understand that there are those who think us horse people should get “real” jobs. And that all we do is spend our days “playing” around. I’m genuinely sorry that you have never been exposed to a lifestyle that teaches you discipline, how to love unconditionally, put something other then yourself first, bust your ass for the things you want and need, kept humble by a 1200 lb animal, the real meaning of “hard work”, early mornings and late nights spent caring for something other than YOU. Those are things a “real job” will never give you.

Some of you haven’t cleaned stalls .....and it shows.
