Are you all ready for this handsome boy? We really don't think you are. 😏

Take a look at Ranger! He's a 6 month old Great Dane mix that we took from a crowded shelter in North Carolina.

Naturally, we were all swooning for this guy the second we met him. He's just so charming! 😍 If it isn't obvious, he's a pretty goofy guy. He is FULL of personality, but is also incredibly smart and is very treat motivated. He knows basic commands. He's friendly with other dogs! He'd do fine with older kids; toddlers he may get a little too excited with and accidentally topple over. He has not been cat tested, though we are happy to do so upon request.

Please know that beyond Ranger's beautiful appearance is a puppy that will become a very large adult dog. He will likely require mental stimulation and physical exercise, so do not think you're adopting a couch potato or you'll be sadly mistaken! If you have an active home or plenty of space for Ranger to get outdoors and burn off some energy, don't hesitate to apply!

🚨 FOSTER NEEDED! 🚨

After all Sookie and her babies have been through, they could use a warm, safe space to crash for a few weeks.

Sookie was with the Unicoi shelter the day of the floods. She was evacuated and placed in an emergency foster home, but contact was lost. Contact was regained and it was discovered that on Sunday, 10/27 she gave birth.

We want to help our friends at Unicoi, Sookie, and her little miracles. To take this family in, we need a foster home readily available.

Her puppies are only 4 days old, so mama will do all the work for the next few weeks! All you’d need to do is provide love and support so that Sookie and her babies can thrive.

Do we have anyone willing to foster this gentle giant?

Marnie is a large female Great Pyrenees that we took in from a shelter in North Carolina.

She’s a very sweet girl, she is just very nervous due to all she’s been through within the past few days.

Does anyone have the love and patience to temporarily open their home to Marnie?

We feel she’d be okay with dogs and larger kids, though we haven’t been able to get a full read on her due to being so scared.

Isn’t it beautiful what we can accomplish when we help one another? ❤️

Yesterday, we had the pleasure of pulling 13 animals from a rural shelter in North Carolina. 8 canines and 5 felines. This particular shelter typically remains at capacity. We’re giving each and every animal a larger opportunity for adoption, while also helping reduce numbers at the NC Shelter.

This truly was a beautiful day and took so many people to pull it off. A special thank you to Cheryl, our transporter, and to Austin, the transporter for MCAS. Another “thanks” goes to Jamie of MCAS for being such a pleasure to work with!

We could use a ‘lil help from our friends!

With colder temps coming and teeny tiny critters in need of some warmth and love, we could really benefit from a few of these warming discs.

Introducing Cole or "Moose" as his foster family likes to call him!

He's a puppy that is the perfect mix of playful and calm! He loves to snuggle up under a blanket with his people when he isn't playing his heart out. Moose has done some major confidence-building within the past few weeks and is really beginning to display his wonderful personality. He is a lover of people and animals, he has never met a stranger! He's got a shiny coat making him quite the looker. He is roughly 5 months old and weighs around 25 pounds currently. He'll likely be medium sized when grown!

He's working on crate training and is already doing well on a leash. He's a potty training champ and already knows basic commands!

Moose would do well in just about any family, though we really feel he'd thrive in one that has another dog or two.

“Abracadabra, you’re adopting me! 🪄”

Wizard is busy studying his spell book in hopes that he’ll come across the perfect adoption spell. 🧙

Wizard is a 5.5 month old male domestic medium-haired kitten. He weighs just under 6 pounds. He was rescued from a property that suffered significant storm damage. He sadly lost a couple siblings in the flood.

The AHHS was very fortunate to have been able to save this fella. He has totally won us over, if you can’t tell! ❤️

Wizard is loving on his terms. He isn’t the biggest cuddler, but he loves to be in your presence. He likes pets and scritchy scratches behind the ears, but he will politely walk away when he’s had enough. We call him the extroverted introvert! He’s also a very observant guy. He likes to sit back and take it all in. He’d do well in a home with other cats, dogs (if calm and he has a place for escape them from time to time), and older children.

PENDING ADOPTION!

“Well howdy, I’m Bocephus! 🤠

Some of you might remember me. I’m a flood survivor and was found by a family traveling from NC into JC for resources. I will never forget those amazing humans. I don’t think I would’ve made it without them. Sadly, I’ve not been reclaimed by my original family.

Since then, the AHHS has taken me under their wing. I was already neutered, so they got me fully vaccinated, heartworm tested, microchipped, dewormed, and on monthly flea/heartworm prevention. I’ve had everything I need to join a new family. Now, I’m just waiting for you.

My foster family has been working to put some meat on my bones and to help me feel less scared. Given all I’ve been through, I deserve a family that can give me unlimited patience and reassurance. I’m building my confidence daily, but I am still a little nervous upon initial interaction.

I do love dogs and they really help bring me out of my shell. Maybe you’ve got a dog or two at home that I could be friends with?

Please don’t overlook me because I’m a hound dog. I’m a survivor. I’m a true testament of strength and resilience. I’m looking forward to the brighter days ahead.

‼️ Senior dog alert ‼️

8 years. That’s how long this precious soul has spent on a chain. That’s 8 freezing winters, 8 scorching summers in the elements. This dog grew up on a chain. Tell us, how is that fair? What quality of life is that? Why have a dog if it can’t enjoy life’s simplest pleasures with you? Every holiday, every celebration this dog sat outside hoping someone would give her the slightest ounce of attention.

She has formed thick calluses and pressure sores on her body in areas where she laid in the dirt. Hair nails are so long that they’re curving sideways. Her skin is in such poor condition, likely due to flea dermatitis. Her fur is so coarse due to lack of nutrients that it feels like sandpaper. She’s so skinny that you can see her spine and every rib.

Xena deserved better. Despite all she’s been through, she is still so loving. She will put her full weight onto our staff as if she’s hugging us. She allowed us to do her vaccines, nails and blood draw without a fight. She doesn’t have a mean bone in her body.

We want someone to love this girl the way she should’ve been loved the past 8 years. She deserves unlimited hugs, a warm bed to sleep in, and treats whenever she pleases. She deserves to be put first for once in her life.

If Xena’s story moved you, why don’t you consider fostering? There is nothing more rewarding. Dogs ask for so little but give so much in return. Xena would love to be your new friend.

For reference, Xena is 8 years old and weighs 51 pounds. She is a lover of people. She can be barky in the presence of other dogs, but she would likely be okay after a solid introduction. She has not yet been cat tested.

Boy, was this a pleasant surprise today! We answered the door to this AMAZING donation from MoCo Mutts Rescue Center! 🤩

This, folks, is what it’s all about; rescues looking out for other rescues. The willingness to work together for the benefit of animals in need..something special!

MoCo Mutts Rescue Center traveled all the way from Sunbright, TN to our little building in Johnson City, TN to deliver all these goods!
