Lilly pulling off a first blue in showmanship today on the first day of fair!! Went back in grand and reserve being the youngest in the class, forgot to back but she had a good pattern going otherwise. Not bad for learning it in 5 mins 😊

Saturday proved to be a day of multiple firsts for the girls. Lilly and Izzy collaborated for their initial show, with Lilly achieving a notable second place finish in tiny tot showmanship and third place in English pleasure. She also advanced to the final round of 33 horses in the open class.
Madi, with my guidance, secured her first victory in novice halter and third place in horsemanship.
Alice, made her first riding show debut, even exceling in a canter class despite only planning to participate in walk trot events.

The parents played a vital role in supporting the girls throughout the arduous day. Please enjoy these humorous images and captions from the day.

“Wow that’s a beautiful horse”
“Our fit is fire” 🔥
“I need a hug”

Well, it was an interesting show day, to say the least! I'm just glad that we all made it through alive and had some good laughs at the end. Even though I'm not entirely sure what everyone placed, it doesn't really matter because we all still managed to have a great time together.

Enjoy these photos from such an eventful day - hopefully they can capture at least some small fraction of how much fun we truly had!

And Izzy is fitting in our group pretty well! ☺️

These two are the cutest. Izzy did so well with her and just followed her with ease 🥹

What a great Saturday show! I had FOUR girls show this weekend and they all did fabulous. We had lots of running, saddle changes and no time to sit. But the smile on there faces after placing well was worth it!

Here are some of the placings I can remember of the top of my head and meant the most.

⭐️My little leadliner had her first show and technically 3rd time riding, she pulled of a SECOND place!!! Out of 5. She was the cutest! 💙

⭐️Emma got a second place in showmanship! And many other good placings in her riding classes. She’s improving every show we go to.

⭐️Lilly got a FIRST in novice walk trot! I was super excited for her with showing against an older age group. It was a big class. She also had many other placings as well. This was Lilly’s and Sugars first show together! Couldn’t be happier how far Lilly has come with riding Sugar.

⭐️Harper got to show her new horse Artie this weekend! She also got thrown into the older class to be able to join the loping classes. For her first show with him, she did very well! She pulled off a FIRST in Equitation and then another one in western pleasure. Along with other many great placings.

I almost forgot! I got to show in a class too! Cola and I were in a big 2 cut class of open HUS walk trot. We made the cut but didn’t place. Then we went in Open western walk trot and placed 2nd with another big class of 2 cuts! I believe both classes had around 22 horses. Was very happy with the rides I had.

The girls also got some new swag with there horses name on them 🤗

Again, thank you for all the help from the parents and grandparents. You guys are a great group!

Congratulations everyone on another successful show day! 😊

Wally made some dreams come true for this little girl. There was a lot of laughs, tears from frustration and hard work put in but She won her first buckle 😊

Congratulations Emma! 🎉

Another show day in the books for these girls!
It was a memorable one to.
Lilly got a first in halter pony halter and a second in showmanship! And a second in english pleasure w/t with Roxy! Lilly’s mom even took Roxy on walk/whoa showmanship and placed 5th 🙌🏻
Harper took Sugar with one day of practice and pulled off a 3rd in showmanship and showed western one handed for the first time! She also did some w/t pleasure and pattern classes and got some placings.
Emma showed Cola in showmanship for the first time and place 4th right behind the other two out of 13! She also took her in English with minimum ride time and did pretty well. She even did the equitation pattern and picked up the correct diagonals 👌🏻 some of her western and English classes had 28-30 horses, she made it thru the cuts but ended up not placing. Still pretty awesome to make the cut in a big class.

As always, wouldn’t of made it thru the day without the support of the parents. Everyone pitched in and supported each other after a good/bad ride.

Also thank you to my husband, Jake for getting the bumper pull cleaned and painted up for the show!

Phew! What a day! I don’t even know where to start. All 3 girls did great today! I’m proud to say they exceeded my expectations, there was lots of ”firsts” today. I’m thankful for this group of students and family. They are all so helpful and supportive of each other.

Lilly & Roxy have come a long way and are still having fun to!

Novice handler halter - 2nd
Tiny tot walk trot - 6th
Novice walk trot - 1st PLACE!!!! Super excited for her. I think there was 10 in the class!!
Wally taught her well 😉

Harper and Wally, oh this makes my heart happy! Not only did I break him out/train him but having one of your students show him and do great is the best feeling. Makes you feel like you done something right. I will have to say it was definitely weird not showing him.
Harper has only been riding him just under 2 months. Never done showmanship, horsemanship or equitation. Never really even practiced any of them. I don’t think she understands how great she did today.
Western halter - 2nd
Grand/reserve - reserve

Super proud trainer moment! And I made my debut with trailer!!! …I decided I need a bigger one hahaha 🤣

Anyway, you guys did great today and loved how we all worked together. Thank you ☺️

The last WBHA show has come and gone!
Emma had a great weekend. She showed Wally better than I did 😂
She won Youth halter, won IBHA lead line and got 2-1sts & 2-2nds in All breed Leadline. Showmanship was a tough pattern and pivoting more than a half a turn was challenging. But she did try her best and thought she did great 😊
She had a great first year of showing!

Wally and I are starting to figure things out and happy to say I had some nice rides 💙 we had some moments in trail but we worked thru it!

Can’t wait for next year! 🐴

Finally posting about this last weekend at WBHA Show.

It was a long weekend but Emma had a great show! She ended up Grand Circuit Champion in both of her leadline classes (9 firsts 🥇 total!) and won two Reserve Champions in Youth halter and Tiny Tot showmanship.
Then ended the weekend Reserve Tiny Tot High Point 😱🤗

Wally and I are making improvements each show and learning new things. We ended the weekend with some good rides and not so good rides lol
Finally got a English jacket and boots that fit for this show 🙈😂

Phew what a hot day yesterday! It was one for the books tho 😊

I took 3 Buckaroos down the the JCHP Memorial Day show and they all did great!
As always there’s more to learn but they had a great time.

⭐️ Harper had her first show, boy was she was nervous! She made her debut in halter and walk trot English class with Dixie! She got 5thnin halter and got 6th in her riding class!

⭐️ Emma didn’t place in any class but boy did she try her hardest! She decided to give Wally a try in walk trot and couldn’t of been more proud on how she handled it! It’s nerve racking to see a 7 year old on a 4 year old but I can say I’m training him right. 💙

⭐️ Last but not least, Lilly and Roxy are starting to figure things out. She entered into halter and got a 6th!! Showmanship they got 3 out of 9 and 4th out of 10 in walk trot equitation.
It was a great day for the two of them and have accomplished a lot since last year. Especially the past two months!!!

Also wanted to congratulate Janelle on her day with her youngster! 😊

I couldn’t be happier how everyone did!

Made it thru the first show of the season with Lilly and Emma!
Proud to say that Lilly made it thru all her classes and had only a few hiccups. BUT they’ve both made tremendous progress since last year! She overcame her nerves for each class and didnt forget anything in her patterns class! Wally and Roxy are stall mates at home and both made it known this weekend when they were separated. To make Lilly’s day more adventurous, they also got to run barrels and poles for fun on Saturday!

Emma had a good start to her show career in leadline and then decided last minute to Show showmanship (only practiced twice before Saturday) AND halter with my 4 year old. Wally took care of her for the most part but he had baby brain in the showmanship class. 🤦🏻‍♀️ everyone now knows what his girly whinnie sounds like 😂

Both kids did a tremendous job and have made me proud.

🏵️ RESHARE

Make Them Carry Their Saddle

A father of darling girl and I were talking last week and he said that he wanted his daughter to ride more and not have to do the work part of the catching, grooming, and saddling. I smiled as I explained.

Riding horses is a combination of strength, timing, and balance. Kids in this country are physically weak (unless they are actively involved with weight training and physical conditioning 4+ times a week.)

When you walk out to the field, you are clearing your stress from being under fluorescent lights all day; feeling the sun soak into your bones. As your body moves on uneven surfaces l, it strengthen your legs and core.

When you groom your horse (especially currying), you are toning your arms and stabilizing your core.

When you carry your saddle, your arms, chest, and back are doing isolated strengthening work.

Being near horses, calms and makes you tune into the splendor of these empathetic animals.

When you ride at a posting trot, it’s equivalent to a slow jog calorie burn wise.

After a lesson, the riders are physically tired and mentally quiet and balanced.

Horse feel your heart beat and mirror your emotions back.

Riding large and somewhat unpredictable animals makes you resilient and pushes your expectations.

Working with horses is so much more than learning how to ride.

So parents, make your children carry their saddles. Don’t do the hard parts for them, as long term it actually hurts them. To advance with their riding, they must get stronger. You can help by doing the high parts.

I love having you all at the farm, and am so grateful to get to share these fascinating animals with you.
