Today was bright day, turned dark and ended with a glimmer.
My best girl got to be my assistant while we worked to help Sonny Boy get better. We sweat, she learned and he felt good for a few hours. And then it went the other way. Sonny no longer felt good and it was too much, so we let him go. She handled it like a champ. She listened and showed compassion, she understood and loved. As we drove away in the vet truck, she felt all the feelings hit her at once and we pulled over at a restaurant to talk about it. She said she wished we could’ve done more for Sonny and I agreed. She said she hopes Sonny’s owner knows that what he did was good and kind even though it hurts. She gets it. And I drove home thinking about how much she gets.
Today was a bright day. Hard, but good. Thank you, Sonny, ride alongside the best in heaven, my man.
