Newt has newt-ing but love for you! What more could you want in your Valentine?!

Newt is the cutest, sweetest, and most playful little guy! A real toy aficionado – give him a squeaky toy, a chew toy, or anything with crinkly material, and he'll entertain himself for hours. Fetch is his game, and he's always up for a round or two! When he's not busy playing, you'll find him napping like a pro.

He gets along well with other dogs and even ignored a cat he saw in the neighborhood. While he hasn't spent time with children, his gentle nature suggests he'd be great with dog-savvy kids who can give him time and space to get to know them.

Newt is a smarty-paws! He's aced potty training with flying colors and even cries by the door when he needs to go out. He sleeps soundly in his cratel all night and doesn't mind spending some time there during the day while you work from home. This little guy is as quiet as a mouse – not a single bark! His leash skills are top-notch, and he thoroughly enjoys daily mile-long walks.

Ummmmm we may have overbooked the number of kitties we have for tomorrow's adoption event. 😬 Whatever right? I mean can you ever have too many cats? 🤷‍♀️ We think not! Bring on all the cats!

Scruffy Paws Animal Rescue is hosting an adoption event and food drive Saturday February 8th from 3-5pm over at Johnston PetSmart.🎉

We have cats of all kinds! Kittens, adults, teenagers, bonded pairs, kid friendly, cats that would do best as solos, dog friendly, short hair, long hair, newbies and long-term residents. This is a great opportunity to come meet them in person.😻😻

So swing on by to meet some of our available kittens/cats and to also meet some of the behind the scenes volunteers who work tirelessly day in and day out to save these precious lives.

Our shelter has consistently been at FULL capacity. Due to this, we are finding ourselves short on food quite often. We will be hosting a food drive during the event so please consider donating a can, 2 or 3! Maybe even an entire case! 🤷‍♀️ Or possibly a bag of dry! 🤔 We are most in need of adult wet food. Friskies, Fancy Feast, or Purina. Honestly, we will gladly accept any kind and we are so appreciative.👏👏👏

Update: WOW, what a response! At this time, we are no longer accepting requests. If more vouchers become available, we will make an announcement.

We are excited to announce that Spay it Forward it back!

With support from the Rhode Island Foundation and generous supporters, we will provide up to 200 spay/neuter vouchers for a subsidized cost of $40. Our goal is to reduce barriers to affordable spay/neuter and decrease cat overpopulation in Rhode Island.

We want to give a special thanks to Potter League Spay & Neuter Clinic and Providence Animal Rescue League for partnering with us to make this program possible. We are incredibly grateful for their talented veterinary staff and commitment to reducing overpopulation!

Voucher requests will be reviewed on a first come, first serve basis. Please share this post with cat guardians who would benefit from this program!

Friendly and outgoing, Angel is ready to steal your heart with his big-boy sad face. He’s a handsome Labrador / Rottweiler mix that is about 5-years-old and weighs 80 pounds. A perfect pup in almost every way, he was surrendered due no fault of his own (his owners’ living situation changed and they could no longer have a dog). Angel is cuddly, moderately active, playful and highly social with people… he’s wiggly-butt-happy to meet you! His short, sleek coat is a gorgeous, deep brown-black color, the kind that changes colors in the sun. Angel is healthy, neutered, up to date on vaccinations and tested negative for heartworm. He is calm and quiet, crate-trained and housebroken. Angel needs to be the only pet in an adult home. He walks well on leash, but can be dog reactive and difficult to manage if he spots another animal. Yes, our sweet Angel has a few needs but he will transition nicely in the right home and be your forever and ever Valentine. OMG and that face! 🥰
