We've had quite a few people asking after Big Red and ways they can help other than thru GoFundMe.

Yes! We are accepting cash and check options at our center. Please send us a message to schedule a time to stop by.

Yes! We now have a PayPal link set up!

https://www.paypal.com/donate/?hosted_button_id=AQUV2TVBU5GGA

And YES! You can contact Ocean State Veterinary Specialists directly at 401-886-6787 to make a donation to Big Reds care! Please mention that you would like to donate to Big Red from Pawswatch Community Cat Center.

While he’s showing signs of improvement, Big Red’s medical expenses are mounting quickly. He’s been at the vet for several days, and the bills are growing with each passing day. Every little bit helps, and just sharing his story goes a long way.

Pawswatch is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping Rhode Island's feral, homeless, free roaming, and abandoned cats. As such, we get cases like Big Red.

Big Red came in at the beginning of the year, and VERY quickly, we realized how rough of a shape he was in. He had multiple contusions, lesions, and a mangled tail. All signs pointing to him potentially being hit by a car.

We contacted our vet who determined due to the trauma, the best corse of action would be to remove his tail, put him on some STRONG antibiotics, and hope for the best.

And the best was going well until it wasn't. Unfortunately, he started to go downhill fast. He developed a respiratory infection and a very high fever. He went from 12 pounds to 9 in under 10 days.

We contacted our friends at Ocean State Veterinary Specialists and he is now in their care. We are doing everything we can to give him a fighting chance to beat this and help him find a good life after all the struggles he's been thru.

Please help us give Big Red a fighting chance by donating or sharing with your friends.

PawsWatch is a 501c3 non-profit organization and as such your donations are Tax deductible.

Our Story

The Community Cat Center is Rhode Island’s premiere care facility, providing a space for feral and abandoned cats to receive medical care, social interaction, and adoption opportunities. The center is a combined effort between PawsWatch and Scruffy Paws Animal Rescue who work together to save the most vulnerable of animals throughout the Ocean State. Our motto is, You See A Rescue. They See A Future.

Even though we are a new shelter, the CCC has had a long and rich history in the world of feline rescue. The Community Cat Center (CCC) may be a new facility, but we have had a long and rich history in the world of feline rescue. Before the CCC, PawsWatch and Scruffy Paws were making its mark in the humane reduction of feral, stray, and abandoned cats roaming the streets. For years, volunteers provided veterinary care to more than thousands of cats and kittens, helping thousands of people of every economic and cultural background address the suffering of homeless cats in their neighborhood.

In January of 2017, PawsWatch was able to establish a base of operations with the help of Grieco Automotive Group, who offered their collision center as a pre and post-op facility. Cats from all over RI undergoing the TNR process were provided a safe space to recuperate after surgery, and in the span of a few months, PawsWatch vetted hundreds of cats. The facility helped us realize the good we can accomplish with a home base but unfortunately, new ownership made the building no longer available for use in May 2018. The loss of the facility placed a tremendous burden on volunteers who only had so much space and resources to offer, greatly diminishing the amount of help they could offer toward suffering outdoor cats. But despite this egregious setback, volunteers dreamed of a new, innovative facility that would situate the most essential parts of feline rescue – adoption, medical, community engagement, and socialization – all within one space. With the support of PawsWatch, Grieco Automotive Group, and Scruffy Paws Animal Rescue, volunteers were able to secure a new building where the CCC would take root. Now, visitors will find a TNR pre and post-op facility for recovering feral cats, a veterinary clinic, adoption center, education classes, and our state’s very first cat cafe, Pat-A-Cat Place. We’re thankful for all the tremendous support we’ve received and the generosity of our communities, and excited for the good work our center will achieve.

Thank You!
