Here at Bark & Stay, we enjoy cozying up in front of the fireplace on these cooler, cloudy type of days!
Check out this cute sibling group! Cookie, Danika & Zeke! I love long walks with this trio!
It’s warm out there! Please make sure you take extra precautions during these hot days with your pups!
When’s it too hot to walk your dog?
Do the 5-second tarmac test with your hand! If it’s too hot for you, walk your dog when the day’s cooked down. When walking your dog in hot weather, try to take them out in the early morning, or later in the evening when temperatures are cooler. This will reduce their risk of heatstroke.
Why is overheating dangerous for your dog?
Dogs can’t sweat (except through their paws), so they rely on panting as their main way to get rid of heat. Panting is less efficient than sweating, especially when it is humid.
What should you do if your dog gets too hot?
Act immediately to prevent your dog’s condition getting worse. If your dog has collapsed or is struggling to breathe, call your nearest vet immediately.
Cool first, transport second. Take these steps to cool your dog down, then transport them to a vet:
Stop them from playing, walking or whatever activity they’re doing
Move the dog to a shaded and cool area
Offer them drinking water
Start cooling them down urgently
Stay cool out there friends!
This storm, while beautiful, has been loud! Hope all of your pups are all well - I know thunder can be so stressful for them. We have been cuddling Ms. Lexi whenever she needs it and playing soothing music to drown out the thunder and to help relax her. She’s nice and calm.
At Bark & Stay, it’s always a party!
We beat the heat by going out on an early morning walk! Love these two!! 💕
