Something about my job is that I work with pups of all sizes, ages and physical abilities. I know I'm out here posting pictures of cute dogs and I make it look like my job is cuddles and kisses all the time. A lot of the time it is...but I also have more than a handful of kiddos who are aging into their teens, or other kiddos whose bodies need some special accommodations to stay comfortable during our time together.

During these higher stress types of appointments, I take a lot of direction from your dogs, they're the ones running the show..I'm just seeing what we can get done. Some old dogs can't handle the dryer as well as they used to, some kiddos need to sit or lay down for some or all of their groom, others have heart conditions or a history of seizures to take into consideration. These friends have good days and bad, just like the rest of us...but sometimes if we're having a bad day, we might end up with an unfinished or sloppy looking groom.

My priority with every dog I see is their health. And it's my job to customize each appointment to fit the needs of the dog I'm taking care of. A lot of my friends, I've known long enough that we used to have fun appointments with pictures and good haircuts..but now I finish their grooms as quickly as I can, because I know grooming is exhausting. A couple of my big friends have physical mobility troubles, and if they're having a hard day, we're going to lay on the floor together and I'll blowdry them or cut their hair lying down.

It's a privilege to be trusted with the care of pups who are a little more fragile. It isn't easy, but I'm so glad I get to do it 💕

This deserves a whole post, not just a clip in my story. I was really honored to shave this guy. This is Finn, he's about a year old and just got a new family! By the look of him, in my professional opinion, I don't think he had ever received a haircut before in his whole life. So we had lots of work to do! Using my shortest blade (a couple of them actually, they kept overheating) and spending about an hour, we set him free! So excited to see what the future has for Finn 💕
