When I opened Something Pawsitive, I told myself I’d always be transparent and let people see the behind the scenes of rescue. It’s not all cute and cuddly all the time. There are down right difficult moments.

Right now, it’s kind of all cute and cuddly. I get to play with these babies several times a day to socialize them. That’s the sweet part of it. But the behind the scenes, the cat lounge is full, these kittens are in my shop building at my house. We have other foster moms that have kittens right now. It’s been a BUSY kitten season and we are not through it yet.

The sad thing is these babies grow up fast. We are going through food and litter like crazy right now. They need homes. There are not enough homes to take them in. I’m going to be real a minute. We see FB posts, news posts, etc about different hoarding situations. West Memphis has had a couple big stories recently. It’s sad. But there are always people saying, if I had known, I would’ve taken one I would’ve helped out, I would’ve…fill in the blank.

I’m not posting this for sympathy. I do NOT want anyone to make a rash decision and say I’ll adopt just because I’m “whining”. We want our babies in good homes, furrever homes.

I’m asking that you share our page, tell people about us. Tag your friends. If you have visited or adopted from us, write a review. Anything to help us reach more people.

Since opening our doors we have adopted out 331 cats and nearly 200 kittens. I know we can’t save them all, but I can sure as heck try.

To the ones that donate, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. To the ones that have adopted and love our babies, there is not enough thanks in the world.

We will be closed for April 6th-8th for the eclipse as my family will be going out of town. We planned it a year ago.. Hope all of yall enjoy the eclipse and view it SAFELY. Please use glasses that are specifically for Solar Eclipse viewing..

Today is National puppy day.The day brings awareness to the need for care of and homes for orphaned pups. Puppies are a big responsibility. Be sure to consider everything involved and adopt from a shelter. The puppies there need love and a home just as much as any others.

Northeast Arkansas Humane Society and Jonesboro Animal Control have many puppies that need loving homes!!

You know what we love? Removing the reproductive organs of animals for their own good. Which is why we love World Spay Day, which takes place on the fourth Tuesday in February — February 27 this year!

It might sound harsh, but the truth is, failing to spay and neuter dogs and cats is responsible for millions of unwanted animals living on the streets without homes or food or being killed in shelters all over the world. So while it might make you twinge to think of a day celebrating animal sterilization, the truth is, the pain of putting all those animals down is far harsher.

It may be your pup’s favorite holiday, and if it’s not it soon will be. National Dog Biscuit Day is February 23! Celebrate the day by spoiling your pup with treats and quality time by making your own homemade dog biscuits! Here are some of our favorite recipes.
Peanut Butter Pet Treats
2 tablespoons oil
1/2 cup xylitol-free peanut butter
1 cup water
1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
1 1/2 cups white flour
Preheat the oven to 350 F.
Combine oil, peanut butter, and water. Add flour, one cup at a time, forming a dough.
Knead dough into firm ball and roll to 1/4-inch thickness.
Cut into 3-to-4-inch pieces. You can use cookie cutters if you’d like.
Place on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 F for 20 minutes.
Makes 2 1/2 dozen cookies.
Dogs love peanut butter and these homemade dog biscuits are easier to eat than licking it straight from the jar.

National Walking the Dog Day is celebrated on February 22nd.

It was first created in 2010 as a way of reminding people that walking their dog is an important part of being a responsible pet owner. This day is the perfect opportunity to educate new dog parents about the benefits of regular dog walking. It's also a great way to get out and enjoy some fresh air with your pup and build stronger bonds between you two.
