Not the most interesting picture but a significantly important one! It's -5°F here in SW Missouri, but my rodents (several thousand) wouldn't know! I built their facility with a minimum of R19 in the walls and a ceiling of R70 in preparation for the coming climate variability. Their HVAC is not stressing, and a backup system is on standby. Stress free rodents are the best rodents! Any time you buy rodents, you should have your potential supplier do a video walk-through so that you can confirm the quality! If they are super cheap, it's likely for a reason.

Our last few clutches are hatching for the season! Striped California kingsnakes with a fun bonus: a few albinos popped out! We didn't know the parents were het albino! We had some holdback hets from another project but this gets us ahead by 2 years on the albino striped project!

Our last investment project for the year because we are literally out of cage space. This is a female pied (het lavender albino) and a male lavender champagne het pied. Hoping for dreamsicle combos this year! Not pictured are the 3 others in this breeding project but you get the idea!

The 2nd to last investment project we have put into for the year. This is our new adult scaleless corn snake who is also triple het for albino, anery, and hypo! He will meet several het scaleless ladies next year all with their own mixed hets!

A big business investment! Complete upgrades to the remaining rodent facility. We have ~800 sq ft of rodent space but based on local demand, we needed to increase the efficiency of our production and these ARS racks will do just that!!

The last python clutch of the season hatching out! Assuming all goes well, this will make a total of 37 Borneo short-tail babies for the year!

Two of our three Sulcata tortoises enjoying some Timothy hay! We have had these for about 18 years now and while they are amazing animals, we do not breed them. They may be readily available in the pet hobby but they are a lot of long-term work!

The male in our pair of Tiger Ratsnakes (Spilotes pullatus) that we picked up from NERD a few months back. They have a lot of the same behaviors as our cribos and make for fun animals to work with!

There's something very appealing about raising roaches from small groups to larger colonies. These Halloween Hissers started out with 12 individuals about 2 years ago. Needless to say, they've expanded into a cool little colony that really likes their chow!

Yesterday I was gifted a pair of hypo everglades ratsnakes from a very good friend. I'm working a scaleless project with everglades now so it'll be awesome to get hypo into the mix!!

I have never been able to correctly time Boa pregnancies. My guess is she will give birth somewhere between tomorrow and 2045..

The results from a pairing of quadruple het corn snakes. For sure have albino, anery, lavender, red factor, and a few I need to grow out a bit to determine. All corns have hatched for the year. The last eggs of the hatching season will be from my 6 pairs of California Kingsnakes!

Oooh boy I'm looking forward to next season! Figured I would start the day by sharing some albino love. My T- albino girl will meet a goldeneye het T- and my T+ girl will meet an ivory het T+ male!!

She rarely holds still but this is my 3 year old Mandarin Ratsnake. They grow slower than most because their temperatures run a lot cooler than most (60-80 degree gradient). In two to three more years, we will have babies!

While we have ~250 snakes, about half of them are younger and planned for up coming projects. This is our male Trans Pecos Ratsnake. He is matched to a similar blonde female and both are het axanthic. I would have photographed them both but she does not hold still!

Day 60 on the dot! Corn snakes are hatching! These babies are from a pair of quadruple hets so some interesting combos should come out! 🐍

A close up on one of our Viper Boas. They have gained a bit of popularity but are still a rather rare animal in the pet industry. They are rather calm and secretive within their habitats but can switch to defensive mode rather quickly.

Our female T+ blood python from NERD. She is easily the snake that seems to hate my general existence the most but my toxic trait is thinking that I can win every snake over until they love me.

I seem to really like the "unloved" animals. We raise 12 different roach species. Lizards get diverse diets in the wild so we do our best to diversify their diets in captivity!!

This is my 2021 male Goldeneye (het T-) blood python that I picked up from a few years back. He is growing well and is at the fun age where a one hand hold is no longer an easy task!

Our male blacktail cribo showing off his beautiful colors! While he still has some Drymarchon behaviors, he is surprisingly calm and patient. I cannot say the same for the juvenile yellowtail cribos we have!

A very unique Borneo Short Tail Python clutch. Five of the babies came out uniquely sawtooth/striped. The mom and dad are the last two photos for reference. These will be holdbacks to chase this down and see what comes of it. Thoughts?

A non-pretty photo but significant all the same. Tomorrow Missouri hits 105 degrees! You should ask yourself what conditions your feeder animals get before your snake meets them. Luckily we are primarily solar powered so we can scale up the cooling efforts through heat waves. Our facility is not "cooled" by fans, it has dedicated HVAC so the rodents get stable temperatures and air quality year round. We built our facility as efficient as possible and it still climbed a bit beyond our comfort zone today. Comfortable rodents are healthy rodents; healthy rodents make healthy snakes!
