Hey everyone meet THE PAMPERED POOCH pick of the month from Joplin Humane Society Animal Adoption & Resource Center. Lets find this kiddo a furever home. Don't forget, we sponsor his adoption fee and provide a gift certificate for a Spa Day.

This week has been dubbed "Gus Week" here at the shelter. He is our longest resident, at 243 days! He came to us as a puppy and has literally grown up at the shelter, so we're focusing on him to hopefully find a loving fur-ever home ASAP! Here's a little bit of info about Gus:

Hi, I'm Gus! I've got energy to spare and a zest for life that's contagious. My days are filled with fun and games; I love to play! I'm always up for a good joke and my goofy antics are sure to keep you laughing. I'm not just all fun and games though, I'm also incredibly curious. I love to explore and learn new things. There's never a dull moment with me around. But what I want more than anything is a family to share all this with. I promise to fill your life with laughter, love, and endless adventures. So, why not take a chance on me? You won't regret it!

Gus is a 1 - 2 yr old male Lab mix. He has a high energy level, so he would benefit from an active family with a fenced yard and plenty of space for daily exercise and play. He does moderately pull on a leash, but with basic obedience training, he should be walking like a champ in no time! Gus is food motivated and knows the command "sit." He mixes well with other dogs in a kennel, but is afraid of cats in the shelter environment.

Here is The Pampered Pooch Pick of the Month for July! Check her out at Joplin Humane Society!

For July's Pick of the Month, we're going to feature Honey Bun! As of today, she has been with us for 142 days! Honey Bun is a 2 - 3 yr old female Lab mix. She has a high energy level, so she would benefit from an active family with a fenced yard and plenty of space for daily exercise and play. She is loose and wiggly when greeting, and comes when called for snuggles and kisses. Honey Bun does moderately pull on a leash, but with basic obedience training, she should be walking like a champ in no time! She is food motivated and knows the command "sit." She mixes well with other dogs in a kennel, but is afraid of cats in the shelter environment.

Also, we are having our annual Summer Low-cost Vaccine Clinic on July 26th from 9 am - 12 pm. No appointment necessary. Services will be on a first come first serve basis. Dogs must be on a leash or in a carrier, and all cats must be in a carrier.

Hello Friends!

We wanted to update everyone on our shelter capacity. Things are looking brighter, but we still need your help. As of 7:00 am Wednesday, June 19, we had 558 animals in our care – this is down 106 animals compared to the previous week.

The cat kennels are at 85% capacity. We have 124 Cats in the shelter kennels, 219 Cats in foster homes, for a total of 343 cats in our care. The dog kennels are at 80% capacity. We have 195 Dogs in the shelter kennels and 20 dogs in foster homes, for a total of 215 dogs.

Thank you to the community for helping free up some much-needed space. As of Wednesday, June 19th we will be opening our intake to Joplin Strays and emergencies only.
