November Q&A
Questions & Answers.
This is Millie. She is staying with us for our confidence building program. As you can see in the video Millie hates the leash. If I don't do my job right and accidently apply to much pressure on that leash it will send Millie into a panic attack that she will not be able to recover from quickly. I am going super slow with her and we will progress when she tells me she is ready.
Take note of the couple times she started to go into a panic when she touches the end of the leash. It doesn't take a lot for here to start to panic. If I were not quick to release the pressure I would lose her.
Remember when working with any dog, to get where you want to go you must have consistency, persistence and patience.
I can't wait to show you all Millies progress.
Loose Leash Walking
LOOSE LEASH WALKING
I know I told a few of you that I would get this video out yesterday but better late than never. I apologize for the delay.
I hope you guys get some practical advice from this video. Leave any questions you have and I promise they will get answered.
I also love seeing progress videos so if anyone is making some progress in loose leash walking, post a video and tag Whyte Dog Academy. If you don't want to post publicly then send them to us in a message. Progress videos make my day.
It may seem like we are being mean to Douglas but he is learning a valuable skill that will progress his training tremendously. A dog that can control their impulses is a much more reliable dog.
If your dog struggles with impulse control, a Board & Train may be what your dog needs.
If you would like more information on board and training give us a call at (417)-553-8209
Fast and right are often mutually exclusive. Training is no exception. Check out what day 1 of training looks like. We are working for long term results rather than quick fixes.

Special Thanks to:
1. The Joplin Humane Society for giving this boy the chance he deserved.
2. Moose's New owners that saw what we saw in him.
3. Mendota Pet for a high-quality leash that this boy couldn't tear apart while we trained him.
Happy National Dog Day, everyone! Dogs are so special, they can turn your bad days into good days and good days into great days. Here are some old photos of Rowan and our pups. We can’t handle the cuteness!!
Versatility of “Place” Command
The “place” command can become your best friend! You will be able to tell your dog “place” in your home, at the park, dog friendly restaurants, and visiting at family and friend’s houses. The benefits of this command are endless. Contact Whyte Dog Academy if you know this would help get you closer to that ideal stress free companionship we all desire.
