Beau and I had an awesome and eventful weekend of tracks and good times.
Started off yesterday with a track that Beau aced and took it 1140 yards in just 16 minutes. The hunter could not believe it and we actually recovered another buck early in November that we found about 60 yards away from this one.
Then went to two other tracks that have already resulted in confirmations of life. On the 2nd one, Beau actually found the buck that the hunter now believes he hit in the chaos. Theres a whole other twist to this one but just not enough time to write it all.
After those two we drove another 90min and met up with some awesome guys from Wisconsin. They had a gut shot buck that they had bumped fearing that other public hunters would either bump or find it. After crossimg a large prairie it jumped a fence onto private leaving a long string of caul fat on the barbed wired. After electing to start there, Beau quickly got on it and took me 400 yards on a bloodless track to the expired buck after one short redirection. After celebration and the drag out these fellas offered to let me stay the night with them at hunt camp since it was 1am since I was 2hours from home. Needless to say my stomach still hurts from laughing so much and Beau was spoiled with lots of summer sausage 🤣.
I can't thank them enough. Thank y'all you so much Tom VandeYacht and Tyler Zeh.
While driving home this morning I got the call for another deer that was shot on some public land 20min from home so we made the pit stop. Just a couple minutes later after Beau tracked just 390 yards, we found the hunters doe and to our surprise it had been taken by another hunter. After putting Beau on the drag line he tracked it all the way to the parking area 420 yards away where we could see where it was loaded in a truck. This is a first for us but I know this type of thing happens pretty frequently in states that deal with smaller parcels of land.
The crazy and wild things that we get to see and experience is mind blowing.
