Our goal is to place our animals in the best hands, making sure they have a forever home! (After hours, press 0 when you hear the recording).

If you have found an animal, please call the JCPD (785-762-5912) to contact our Animal Control. When adopting a dog, we have everyone go through an adoption application. Here are the steps:
1. Visit the shelter and see what dog perks your interest.
2. Have part of the shelter staff take dog out of cage (if not on stray hold) for you to associate with.
3. If still interested, fill out an adoption

application.
4. Give the shelter a few days to review all the applications on said dog. Adoption fees for dogs:
$145

If you are interested in a cat
1. Have one of the shelter staff take the cat out of the cage (unless on stray hold) and have you associate with it.
2. If all goes well, you can fill out an adoption application to adopt the cat and take them home the same day! Adoption fees for cats
$95

ATTENTION!

At this time, we will be closed for a minimum of 1 week to monitor symptoms that COULD resemble Kennel Cough. Out of IMMENSE PRECAUTION, we will be halting all adoptions or showings until we are able to verify if this is Kennel Cough or not. Once clear, we will send an update out. Given the nature of our shelter and how many dogs we house, this is a very common illness shelters can see. It just takes one stray dog to bring it in.

* Dog owners in our area need to be vigilant and understand that public places can allow for this to spread.

Y’all. We are screaming, crying, celebrating today.

Malani was with us for over a year the first time, was returned to us shortly after and this stay she was close to a year as well. She is now living the best life she can with her new dad- he has already spoiled her during foster! 🐾❤️

We had a potluck last week for Thanksgiving as we feed the KSTATE Shelter Medicine Program when they come do surgeries for us!

Since we had some leftover ham, we figured the dogs could use a yummy treat. We don’t think they complained any 😉

Pecan Pie

This sweet girl came into us with severe Upper Respiratory symptoms- sneezing, stuffy nose, mucous. She was placed on antibiotics, however, she continued to go downhill. Dr. Shamburg was quick thinking and thought we should search for a polyp! Lo and behold, she had a VERY LARGE one blocking her breathing, resting near her soft pallet. She is feeling much better and is enjoying being able to breathe normally!

Oh Grandma, we love you! We just want you to find a home 😔

Ringworm, OH MY!

We want to educate you on the importance of using precaution when handling stray animals- although we do not recommend you do. Ringworm CAN be seen by naked eye, but sometimes it is harder. The light we used is called a woods lamp and all cats are subjected to this during their physical examination! 🐾
