Room 8 Memorial Cat Foundation

Room 8 Memorial Cat Foundation We are a non-profit no kill animal shelter for cats in Riverside, CA In 1972, Room 8 Memorial Cat Foundation was founded by Hettie L. Perry (1905-1996).

Hettie -- affectionately known as The Cat Lady of Pasadena -- and her very patient husband, fed, nursed, groomed and cared for cats in their private home. Hettie's life was filled with love for helping unwanted homeless cats. Hettie named Room 8 Memorial Cat Foundation after a cat named "Room 8" that she had read about who was the mascot at a Los Angeles county elementary school for 16 years. The

current shelter in Jurupa Valley, California was built by Hettie in the mid-1980’s and continues her vision of taking in, caring for, and providing and finding cats of all ages a place to feel loved and safe. Our no-cage environment provides a safe and caring home for approximately 85 cats awaiting adoption, as well as lifetime care for those who cannot be placed, including senior cats who will live out their lives in a comfortable setting. Our cattery is divided into eight separate rooms and each room has an attached outdoor, enclosed patio area where the cats can get fresh air and lounge in the sun on benches and other furniture. We are open by appointment only. Adoption procedures include completing an application and, if approved, paying an adoption fee for each cat or kitten.

Dear friends,

Mr. Cosmo has had his life changing surgery and is breathing so much easier now. Better days are definitely ahead for him.

Cosmo came to us after his owner had given up on getting him fixed because the three vets she had taken him to had said he wasn’t a candidate for a neuter surgery. We were told that it was a persistent URI that had gone unresolved. After we had done a broad spectrum of antibiotics with no change, he was finally hospitalized to see if our vet could resolve it with some diagnostics. Unfortunately after a PCR was run it was obvious that it wasn’t just an URI and we had come to this costly surgery.

The last three years for Room 8 have been hard. The rising costs of vetting our cats/kittens and slow adoptions has made it incredibly hard for us to take any medical cases….of any type especially this year. Many times our kittens are being adopted out at less than our actual medical costs. Cosmo not being an intended medical expense.

Although we are very grateful for $450 (of $2570)that has been donated for his care it doesn’t cover the expense of his surgery. Please consider donating to Cosmo’s surgery even just a little helps. Zelle is always the best way to send us donations and every penny we get will go on his bill. Also donating anything off our Amazon wishlist would also help as it would make available more funds for us to put on his bill.

Thank you,
Gail, Jack, Jenny, Linda, & Desiree (Room 8 board members)

💙 Help Cosmo Breathe Easy & Live Fully 💙
A Fundraiser for Life-Changing Surgery
Meet Cosmo, a sweet and gentle 2-year-old Persian cat who’s been fighting to breathe since the day he was born.
Cosmo suffers from congenital breathing issues common in flat-faced breeds — specifically, stenotic nares (narrow nostrils) and an elongated soft palate. These conditions make every breath a struggle and limit his ability to play, eat comfortably, or just enjoy being a cat. 😿
Cosmo’s previous owner loved him deeply, but sadly had to surrender him when she could no longer afford the medical care he desperately needs — including a neuter and corrective airway surgery.
Now in the care of our vet hospital, Cosmo is safe, loved, and finally has a chance at a healthy, happy life. He’s scheduled for surgery that will open his airways, allowing him to breathe freely for the first time. This procedure is urgent and life-changing — but it comes at a cost.
We’re raising $2500 to cover:
• Airway corrective surgery (nares & soft palate)
• Neuter procedure
• Anesthesia and hospitalization
• Post-op care and medications
Every donation — no matter how small — brings Cosmo one step closer to the life he deserves. A life where he can run, play, purr, and snuggle without struggling for breath.
🐾 Please help us give Cosmo his second chance.
If you’re unable to donate, sharing this fundraiser means the world to us (and to him).
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for supporting Cosmo and giving him hope. 💙
With gratitude,Room 8 & Cosmo 🐾

We’ve partnered with Cuddly to fundraise for Cosmo’s procedure.
