As we wrap up this year's National Veterinary Technician Week we have one last tech to shout out, Melissa. She will have been in vet med for 18 years this coming December! Her undying love for animals that started at a very young age is what drew her to the field of vet med and she says she can't imagine not having animals in my life! At the moment her family has 7 cats, one small dog Lily, and chickens! Melissa enjoys working with puppies and kittens, of course, but she also loves doing diagnostics such as bloodwork/radiography and cytology to see why a pet might be ill or not acting right. In addition to her work as a vet tech Melissa also handles Direct Release for our clinic.

What's your favorite breed that you've worked with? ~ I have always been a big fan of Boxer's and love working with well behaved Dobermans."

Would you rather trim nails on a wiggly Frenchie or a fractious Feline? ~ "Fractious Felines 🐱"

What's one thing that you think an owner can do to keep their pets happy and healthy? ~"Bringing them in for annual exams so we an keep track of how they are doing, such as listening for heart abnormalities, checking their teeth, ears, eyes, lumps and bumps! "

This is our vet tech Tianna. She's been working as a vet tech for about 3 and a half years. Animals have always been a part of her life, growing up she would foster kittens with her family, so going in the Vet Med has always been an interest to her, especially after doing a brief internship at a vet clinic my senior year of high school; she currently has 2 friendly felines, that she brought with her all the way from Philly, PA. She enjoys doing the annual workups on pets of any age, whether its starting puppy/ kitten packs or drawing blood on senior pets to make sure they are staying healthy.

What's your favorite breed that you've worked with? ~ "I absolutely love Shiba Inus"

Would you rather trim nails on a wiggly Frenchie or a fractious Feline? ~ "I would take on a fractious feline any day 🐱"

What's one thing that you think an owner can do to keep their pets happy and healthy? "To keep your pets on a reliable monthly flea/tick and heartworm prevention."

This is our vet tech Alissa. She has been in vet med for 2 and a half years. She wanted to get into vet med because she grew up in an animal oriented family, so she has always had a soft spot for animals and their well- being. She has 5 pets, a rescue pup from Maui Humane Society, and 4 felines. Her favorite part is working on sick patients, even though it can get quite stressful, emotional, and be a lot of hard work, but seeing when they make a full recovery make all the hard work worth it.

What's your favorite breed that you've worked with? ~ "I like working with mixed breeds."

Would you rather trim nails on a wiggly Frenchie or a fractious Feline? ~ "Fractious Felines 🐱"

What's one thing that you think an owner can do to keep their pets happy and healthy? ~ "Make sure to keep your pet up to date on annual exams and vaccines, on monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventions and taking care of their oral hygiene. All of these things with maintain your pets health and will better help the owner keep track of their pet's physical health."

Do you prefer to draw blood from Canines or Felines? ~ "Canines 🐶"

At Home Animal Hospital and Mobile Veterinary Services - We’re here to help you give the best to your pets. We have been gratefully serving the beautiful island of Maui since 2008. We have state of the art equipment and patient care coupled with a comfortable relaxed environment - almost like being At Home! Our signature mobile service is still running strong Tuesday and Fridays and we NEVER charge you extra for a same day appointment. Services include: medicine, orthopedic and soft tissue surgery, dentistry, digital dental and standard x-Ray, ultrasound, quarantine and direct release, sick pet hospitalization (with night-time nursing care for very ill pets), well care, geriatric pet care, Daytime emergency services, and more. Our Doctors are: Dr. Danielle Dewey, Dr. Frank Lassise, Dr. Scott Perry and Dr. Jill Mitchell. We have Annie Wu, Eric Pierson, Melissa Dillitzer, Rick Dobson and Ashley Pilarski as our tireless and skilled veterinary nurses and Brittany Byerly, Tracy Manabe, Kim Collier and Doanie Hare on our customer care team.
