Today an interesting thing happened. Being a Miniature Schnauzer breeders, I want to make sure the pups that leave our home have a microchip in place so if they get lost, they will find their way home. Getting lost is scary and going to strange places is even scarier.
With a microchip in your pet at least the chances of them getting back to their owners is much greater BUT only if the microchip is registered!
The microchips I order are mostly from AKC Reunite. They come registered in my name because I am the one that bought them. So if your pet gets lost that you got from me, AKC calls me because it’s reported that a pet has been found with a microchip registered to me. I have to stop what I am doing to go through all the contracts to see if I can locate the owner.
This is a chore I will do but is definitely one I shouldn’t have to do. When you pick up your pet we go over the importance of microchipping and registration.

I learned early this morning that a dog was found and was taken to the Humane Society. I have called (I’ve called at least 4 times and texted also) the owner but my call went to voicemail. I’m concerned that this dog is being stressed out not being with its owners. Thankfully this dogs microchip was registered , it’s just been difficult to get a hold of the owner.
There’s been times when I received calls from a Sheriff that found a dog wandering, called from vets that have a pet brought in and they scanned it for a microchip and it wasn’t registered, calls from shelters (Seattle and Montana) that had pets brought in.
Update: I found out the lady who adopted the pup from me had passed away and the family didn’t want her. The lady’s brother surrendered her to the Humane Society. Thankfully I was on the microchip registry and picked her up .

Wow, time flies! Nina’s pups are are 5 weeks old today! They’re getting their first meal from me. Nina let me know it’s time for them to be weaned. She was getting mouthfuls of kibble and putting them into her pups pen to feed them for the last 2 days. There’s only two of these pups still available. They are the all over chocolate (Liver) ones. Suzee’s pups are turning 5 weeks old soon and their teeth are starting to come in so it’s time to start giving them soft solid food. I am starting them on pawTree Chicken and Sweet Potato recipe kibble. I pour enough hot water over the kibble to soften it and let it cool to warm. Then I crumble 1 pawTree Gastro Pro chew and 1/2 scoop of pawTree ImmunoShroom powder. I stir them all together and it’s ready. This came across my husband’s Facebook and he shared it with me. Of course it’s kind of funny but because we have non shedding Miniature Schnauzers we must not have “Fur”niture! I am so thankful that our dogs don’t shed!! I always have a dog or two + sitting in the recliners or the sofa or on my lap and I’m wearing black pants!
