Christian got great comments on his grow out juniors at the show last weekend. We tried to photograph them today to celebrate them, and ended up with a tale of two siblings instead. We have the one people pleasing baby who will do whatever is asked with minimal prompting, and then we have our problem child 😂

Christian had a great night at the annual Just for Fun Night Show in Coldwater, earning BOB at both shows with two different homegrown senior bucks (PPB’s Louis Vuitton in show A and PPB’s Gucci in show B ).

Thank you to Todd Naragon and Drew Bliss for recognizing his rabbits and for excellent youth judging.

Congratulations to Paige Buhl Pretty Adorable Bunnies Rabbitry - Netherland Dwarfs for BOS in both shows with a beautiful broken orange doe in show A and a super cute REW doe in show B, and congratulations also to the Ottney sisters, who did a great job handling and showing some really nice bunnies.

We got back from his sister’s national competition and it was time for the babies’ preventatives. He did a great job administering the wormer and coccidiostat and his babies ate both right up! Thank you to Lesa for helping us with the schedule and doses ♥️

Self was not a color project Christian was working on, but it found him in three separate litters in the last year and he is planning on his first black to black breeding after the fair.

Thank you to Miss Lesa for letting Christian breed his new doe to her buck to help improve his orange project! Orange is his favorite color and he’s still working to get some orange babies back in the best boxes 🙂

Christian is 9 today! This last year was his best year ever with his bunnies:

*first ARBA nationals!
*one of his homegrown bunnies earned a top placement at nationals
*he was selected ARBA district 8 management winner and 4th runner up ARBA Lord
*he was the Kalamazoo Co. first place junior showman and runner up overall showman
*he had BIS at his county fair
*he won MSRBYA Rabbit Lord
*he won BOB at all 4 state convention shows
*he sold his very first rabbit to an open breeder
*all of his major awards were won with homegrown rabbits
*all of the seniors in the barn are RGC

Cheers to what this next year will bring!

Jer’s Geneva (opal out of orange) gave Christian two fat and happy babies today by one of Lesa Rose’s fantastic orange herd bucks! While neither baby is orange, Christian is crossing fingers that one of these two is a typey doe that we can breed to Christian’s orange herd buck to get some oranges back in the nest boxes!

Chrisitian was honored to win both BOB and BOS this weekend at the first annual Blood, Sweat, and Tears Rabbit Club show under judge Drew Bliss.

Lesa brought Geneva back for us from Netherland Dwarf nationals to be a mother in Christian’s orange program and this show was the handoff, so we entered her and she did well! She is bred to one of Lesa’s beautiful orange bucks and due June 4.

Well, we found a use for the stocked up Covid masks: keeping flying fur out of your nose on bunny spa day! None of the bunnies get wet, but they love the blow dryer on low to help gently get the loose hair out that the brush leaves behind while they are molting.

Our best girl Lucky is back home after being bred by Lesa Rose’s handsome broken blue buck. Just look at the mug on that fella! Christian can’t wait to see the babies from this cross and he is really hoping for some brokens. We can’t thank Lesa enough for everything that she does for Christian 🧡

This year at MSRBA Spring Convention, Christian only brought 4 rabbits to show: two 9 week olds for comments (that don’t know to stay still for pictures yet, as evidenced in the photo lol), a senior chocolate agouti that he had grown out to improve his orange project, and his orange herd buck, Neymar. Some fun times from this weekend were:

*Getting all first places with the rabbits he brought
*Getting great comments on his juniors and the confidence to grow one out and sell the other to a fellow breeder who has become a friend
*Being able to visit the Registrar with Neymar so that he can be granded! He is his first homegrown RGC orange 🧡
*BOSG agouti at both shows
*Seeing all of his rabbit friends and making new ones
*Miss Lesa looked over Christian’s juniors and gave helpful advice and then took his best doe, Lucky, home to breed to one of her broken bucks for him
*Supporting his fellow exhibitors and celebrating their wins with them
*Bringing home a sweet new buck from Chloe Fowler!
*Going to the awards banquet for the first time and having Grandpa be able to come
*Competing for and being awarded the title of Rabbit Lord

The royalty competition required exhibitors to prepare an application that described the size and scope of their rabbit project and their leadership within it in advance of Convention, then while they were there, they had to identify 24 breeds of live rabbits and cavies in carriers, take a written rabbit and cavy multiple choice and short answer test, and participate in an interview with a judge. Christian had been studying really hard leading up to Saturday and was so happy not just to be selected, but to share the joy with two of his friends, who were selected for their respective age-titles also.

He put this whole rabbit thing best when we were driving home and he said, “Mom, I just have so much fun with everyone doing rabbits that I never want to leave.”

Lucky’s babies are living their best lives.

Lucky is hard at the work building her nest! Fingers crossed that this time, she will actually put some babies in it.

Getting closer to Halloween with PPB’s CocoaPuff! She is a product of our orange program and a daughter of PPB’s Neymar. We’ve had our eye on her since she was in the nest box and can’t wait to see how she fills out as she matures. At 4 months old, she was first place chocolate agouti junior doe and best junior of variety at the 100th ARBA Convention this month.

Christian officially gave the littlest member of Pumpkin Patch Bunnies his name today, but we aren’t revealing it until he poses like a big boy and shows off how beautiful he is!

Someone was happy to get brushed today! Trying to get everyone’s coats in compliance for the show this weekend after the entire barn decided to molt at once. Fingers crossed; we would love to see everyone at Jackson if it works out!
