Kings of Leon is here to wish everybody a happy Thanksgiving tomorrow! 🦃

We will be closed tomorrow 11/27 due to the holiday. Normal hours will resume on Friday. This does not change anything for those who are volunteers.

Anyway, back to King! He was not very impressed that he had to dress up as a turkey, so he is realllly hoping to find a home before Christmas so he doesn't have to become a christmas tree or an elf next! Please help us find this boy his forever home, he deserves a nice comfy couch to lay on. More information about him can be found on our website animalrescueproject.org when you click view on Petfinder.

Rocket Fizz & Uncle Buddy’s Toy Stash Host 8th Annual “Small Business Waggerday” to Support Animal Rescue Project
Saturday, November 29 | Downtown Kalamazoo

Kalamazoo, MI — Rocket Fizz and Uncle Buddy’s Toy Stash are once again teaming up for their annual Small Business Waggerday, happening on Small Business Saturday, November 29. This beloved community tradition combines shopping small with giving back — with 10% of all sales donated to the Animal Rescue Project (ARP).

“Hard to believe we’ve been doing this for eight years,” said Tom Holmer, co-owner of both Rocket Fizz and Uncle Buddy’s Toy Stash. “We are so proud to continue supporting the Animal Rescue Project. They’re such a wonderful organization with a fantastic mission plus we also get to thank them for our two best buddies, Henry and Moxie!”

Jack Frost, director of the Animal Rescue Project, expressed his appreciation for the ongoing partnership. “We are so grateful for the continued support from Rocket Fizz and Uncle Buddy’s Toy Stash,” Frost said. “For nearly a decade, they’ve shown that local businesses can make a lasting difference for animals in need. Their donations help us provide medical care, shelter, and adoption services for hundreds of dogs and cats each year. But it’s more than that…it’s a celebration of kindness, community, and wagging tails.”

In addition to donating a portion of all sales, both stores will also be accepting direct cash donations throughout the day for anyone who wishes to contribute even more to ARP’s mission.

The event encourages shoppers to celebrate local businesses while helping a cause close to many hearts. Visitors can expect the usual fun and festive atmosphere both stores are known for — from the retro candy and soda experience at Rocket Fizz to the whimsical toys and collectibles at Uncle Buddy’s.

Meet our cutest new puppies who will be ready for homes next week!

These sweet babies appear to be some sort of hound mix and are estimated to be around 40-60 lbs once full grown. They’re friendly, adorable, and full of all the lovable, wiggly, puppy goodness you could hope for!

Right now they’re soaking up all the snuggles in their foster homes while they wait to meet their forever families next week.

If you’re interested in one of these cuties, please fill out an application at animalrescueproject.org. You can also learn more about them on our Petfinder profile! ❤️🐾

ADOPTED!

Meet our newest friend, Elf!

Elf is an 8 month old Australian Shepherd mix and truly one of the sweetest boys you’ll meet. He’s dog friendly and has that classic Aussie charm, but also those classic herding instincts, which is why he made his way to us. Because of this, Elf would do best in a home without young children running around; older, calmer kids would be a much better fit for him.

He hasn’t been cat tested yet, but we can do so for any approved applicant. Please keep in mind that, as a herding breed, he will likely want to herd cats and will need an experienced owner who is prepared to manage this behavior.

Elf is a high energy, intelligent breed who will thrive with plenty of physical and mental stimulation. He would love a home that can keep him busy and fulfilled. He is not suited for apartment living unless his new family is fully dedicated to providing several hours of exercise and enrichment every day, which he would love anyway!

Since Elf is still new to us, we aren’t yet sure about his leash manners, crate training, or potty training, so his future adopter should be ready to work on these with patience and consistency.

If you think you might be the perfect match for Elf, please fill out an application at animalrescueproject.org. More information about him can also be found on our website and Petfinder.

Let’s help this handsome boy find the loving, active home he deserves!

We’ve been settling into our new building nicely, and it wouldn’t have been possible without the support of everyone who stands behind us.

The paw print wall is more than decoration, it represents the heart of this building. Each paw symbolizes someone’s commitment to the animals we care for and to the mission that keeps us moving forward. Seeing it grow has been incredible, and we can’t wait for the day it’s completely filled. (A few of the newest paws are still a work in progress and will be hung up soon, how exciting!)

For anyone interested in adding their own paw print, we offer a few size options ($250, $500, and $1,000), and we’re always happy to work with you if you’d like multiple paws or have something special in mind. Forms can be filled out in person at the front desk or completed over the phone, and our team is always here to answer any questions you have.

Thank you again to everyone who helped us get to this point, your support continues to make an impact on our animals, our staff, and our entire community.
