💡 Kids can only learn to regulate emotions they are first allowed to feel. When emotions like anger, sadness, or fear are dismissed or punished, children learn to hide or suppress them rather than manage them. Validation…letting kids know it’s okay to feel what they feel is the first step toward emotional regulation. Parents can model healthy expression by naming their own feelings, using calming strategies together, and creating a safe space for kids to talk about tough emotions without judgment.

Two years ago, we transplanted two small, one-foot canes from a wild raspberry bush, hoping they would thrive in their new home. Fast forward to today, and our little experiment has turned feral like everything else on our homestead. 😂 It's a magnificent, sprawling black cap haven! 🤩

This year, the harvest has been incredible. We picked all we needed to make a big batch of our famous wild raspberry jam (only a few jars remain) and some delicious black cap cakelettes. The rest we happily left for the birds and other local wildlife to enjoy.

It’s amazing to let go and listen to the land. It's humbling to turn something small into such a bountiful gift. We're so grateful for this sweet, wild addition to our little urban homestead 💚
