Bing made it to his first jackpot!
We placed 4th out of 340 teams. He worked great all day - this is his last run of the day.
If you’re looking at booking a breeding from Bing, now would be the time, as his prices will only go up. Cooled and frozen semen available: $1000 plus shipping.

Heres some things I like to use to maintain suppleness and balance with the hackamore.
This hackamore is Latigo leather with a kangaroo nose band. It’s pretty darn soft and one of my favorites to use.

Full part 1 video of teaching your horse to lead by a foot is now up on YouTube.
Part 1 is front feet and 2 is the hinds which will be up tomorrow. I do this will all of my horses to start teaching them about a rope and how to turn loose in different situations. I see this as a key part of the fundamentals for setting a horse up for success.

It’s not Tuesday but here’s a turn over for you.
Here is a little video for those of you who asked about your horses leaning on the bridle. Full video up on our YouTube channel

No matter what I do with my horses, the goal is to end with this type of expression.

Took the new saddle for a ‘spin’.
It fit this hunk nicely. This is the first time I’ve started to ask Bing to bring up a little speed. I’ve found if you keep them balanced and turn around in lower and mid range gears they have a better attitude about the spin and are less resistant to transitions to higher speeds.

Reaching with the shoulders then smoothly reaching with the haunches in. I’m feeling for balance, I’m looking for power, and releasing for weightlessness. If you are having a rough time with your canter departs or lead changes this is a sequence you could use to help develop more understanding. #thehorse #horsemanship #themoment #horses #studhorse #ropehorse #cowhorse #pidcockcoatesquarterhorses #stallion #ranchhorse #youcantfakethefunk #followafeelnotafairytale #montana #montanahorsetrainer #tristenbaroni #notorioushorsemanship
Backing arcs to the turn around.
Bing and I are working on getting a smoother rhythm while keeping limber. I love movements like this to help keep the body freed up and maintaining accurate weight distribution.
Commonly when I’m having trouble with this it’s due to a lack of the horse being turned loose mentally, leading to body control issues.
When I find myself in that position, I slowdown and try to see how I can get my pony mentally grounded, then start back at it again.
A little bit, often, seems to keep them trying; while too much too late seems like a good way to get them working against you.

Stop! Take a moment to think for yourself, think for your horse. Does it make sense to you? Is it making sense to your trusty steed? Are you setting things up in a way that you can both find success or are you finding yourself stuck in a rut?
When you get stuck be careful not to continue to drill and obsess over the flaw. So many times with our horses it makes them feel like a loser and they began to lose drive to search and try.
Take a moment to observe, ask your horse some questions, then process that and ask yourself. A little bit of observation and honesty go along ways. At least that’s what the horses are telling me.
