Like many of you, I used to believe that the Sabbath was replaced by Sunday. I believed in the "Lord's Day" and that corporate worship is on the First Day of the week, rather than the 7th. Once I started looking into it, I realized that it's simply not true. There is not one verse in Scripture indicating this. On the contrary, we are instructed to "REMEMBER the Sabbath, to keep it holy!" (Exodus 20:8).

When I researched this topic further, I learned that so much we believe today has its roots in the Roman Catholic church (RCC) rather than Scripture. The "Lord's Day" is a term no other than the "Day of the Lord", which is a reference to God's judgment, not Sunday! In fact, the change from Sabbath to Sunday was not instructed by God but by the RCC (under emperor Constantine) and the RCC is actually quite open about it as the following quotes show:

❌ "Sunday is founded, not of scripture, but on tradition, and is distinctly a Catholic Institution. As there is no Scripture for the transfer of the day of rest from the last to the first day of the week, Protestants ought to keep their Sabbath on Saturday and thus leave the Catholic in full possession of Sunday." - Catholic Record, September 17, 1893

❌ "The church is above the Bible and this transference of Sabbath (7th day) observance is proof of that fact" - Catholic Record of London, Ontario September 1, 1923

❌ "We observe Sunday instead of Saturday because the Catholic Church in the Council of Laodicea (A.D. 336) transferred the solemnity from Saturday to Sunday" - The Convert's Catechism of Catholic Doctrine, 50

❌ Sunday...is purely a creation of the Catholic Church. - American Catholic Quarterly Review (January 1883)

❌ But you may read the Bible from Genesis to Revelation, and you will not find a single line authorizing the sanctification of Sunday. The Scriptures enforce the religious observance of Saturday, a day that we never sanctify. - Cardinal James Gibbons, The Faith of Our Fathers (Ayers Publishing, 1978)

❌If Protestants would follow the Bible, they should worship God on the Sabbath day by God is Saturday. In keeping the Sunday, they are following a law of the Catholic Church. - Chancellor Albert Smith for Cardinal of Baltimore Archdiocese (Feb 10, 1920)

❌Practically everything Protestants regard as essential or important they have received from the Catholic Church... The Protestant mind does not seem to realize that in accepting the Bible and observing the Sunday, in keeping Christmas and Easter, they are accepting the authority of the spokesman for the church, the Pope. - Our Sunday Visitor (Feb 5, 1950)

❌The Church made a sacred day of Sunday…largely because it was the weekly festival of the sun; for it was a definite Christian policy to take over the pagan festivals endeared to the people by tradition, and to give them a Christian significance. - Arthur Weigall, The Paganism in Our Christianity (New York: Putnam’s Sons, 1928)

I urge you to spend time looking into this as in the end, we want to obey God and do Bible things the Bible way as we demonstrate our love for Him by doing what He has commanded (John 14:15).

Our Story

Pets-Plus was established in 1997, in Dayton, Nevada. My husband and I care for your pets and home, specializing in overnight care, giving medications and special diets, when needed. Walking dogs is offered, as is extended play-time! Giving "loves" on the couch is a favorite past-time.

I left the dental and nanny fields to solely care for pets and their homes. I have never regretted that decision. We have met wonderful humans as well.

In 2006, my husband, our rescue Beagle, Bagel, (from Best Friends Animal Society) and I attended QUEST in Phoenix. What a treat! We learned much from different speakers, including taking the First Aide course.

Another passion is accompanying our recently rescued Beagle, Winston, to nursing homes in Kalispell. We need to fine-tune the reason for visits: giving and accepting "loves" not sniffing for crumbs on the floor! Presently, he does all three! Having Winston along makes visiting so much more rewarding, for the residents and us!!
