Circle K Farms

Samuel has been training horses for over 25 years. Circle K Farms is located outside of Kampsville IL and is owned and operated by Samuel and Courtney Kaufman.

He believes in respecting the horse and starting them to ride and drive with a lot of the same methods that were used when horses were still people's mode of transportation and used on the farm. Samuel Kaufman has been shoeing and training horses professionally for over 20 years. He specializes in starting c**ts to ride or drive, performance horses and problem horses. I had a great time at River Valley like always. The horse I had was a very nice horse. She was good minded, a nice mover, stout, athletic and felt balanced. She was a whole lot of good in one package. When I was riding her I felt like I was gliding. I couldn't help but think all weekend you don't get horses like this by accident or luck. It's not the first one I've had like that up there. Hats off to the Kokjohns for having great horses and another great event. I've been trying to figure out why that horse isn't in my barn...I think I might have messed up by not bringing her home.

I had fun at the local fun show today. Its been awhile since I was at a show and Red made it to his first show ever. I put him in halter and walk trot and it went very well. I was pretty proud of him but it's a good thing they don't judge the conformation of the handler. (If you look at the last pic you'll know what I mean haha)

I had a great time and alot of fun at the In It 2 Win It colt starting. Stryder who started out barely halter broke and not handled much past his head and neck made some really great progress in such a short amount of time! I couldn't be happier with how everything went! Here is our freestyle video.

One of my winter projects. A 4yr Aqha mare that came out here last year with a history of bucking people off. After ruling out health and dental problems and having her adjusted by a chiropractor . My assessment was that she had a bad "don't want to do anything" attitude. Even though I rode her last fall she was very unhappy and I felt like we were not getting anywhere. She has been turned out for most of this year. I got her in a couple of times but decided each time she still wasn't quite mentally ready yet. I am excited about her now because even though she is still bucking she is healthy and has a much better "want to" attitude at times. My goal for her is simple soften her from nose to tail and help her see any direction is easier than up and down.
