Here is some good information regarding the algae blooms that are currently affecting our area. The Virgin River up near Zion has again been affected. Please don't allow your dogs to play in, or drink river water before checking it is safe. These algae blooms are toxic to you & your animals. Below is a link to the Utah Department for Environmental quality. They put out a monthly report on water quality in different areas. Thank you for sharing.

Dear Mom and Dad,

Let me stay home. It's too hot for me to walk and run next to you. But because I am a loyal dog, I often go beyond my limits. So I walk and run beside you, standing still if I have to.
And feel my paws burn.
I'm looking at you for a moment, but you do not understand. Because in a little over 5 minutes we're at the cool puddle, right? But those little 5 minutes
can be fatal to me. Because I sweat through my paws, and in this heat I just cannot get rid of the sweat. My whole body is boiling, but I keep going
And then I end up on the tarmac. In the heat and in the sun. With my tongue out of my mouth and my eyes flashing in the sun. My paws are burning, my
tongue is dry and my head is pounding in the heat that my body cannot get rid of…
Instead, let me stay at home where I can enjoy the sun, with a large bowl of cool water, somewhere in the shade. And best of all like in a cool area with grass.
Love Your Dog. x🐕🐩🐕‍🦺🐾🐾

IF YOU CANNOT WALK BAREFOOT BECAUSE IT'S TOO HOT. . .THEN IT'S TOO HOT FOR YOUR DOG.
💔
Be wise, be thoughtful and be kind.
Help to save lives. 🐾

SMART PET PARENTS EDUCATIONAL SERIES. . . . . .

⚠️DANGER, DANGER - FOXTAIL SEASON⚠️
🐾🐕🐾🐕‍🦺🐾
KEEP YOUR PETS HAPPY AND SAFE - AVOID AN UNNECESSARY VISIT TO YOUR VETERINARY HOSPITAL
🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾
Across the nation, veterinary hospitals are busier than ever! Appointment schedules are filled weeks ahead and some veterinary hospitals are not accepting new patients.

We all know the best care is preventative – “an apple a day keeps the doctors away” for humans. But what about pets? There are many preventative care skills all pet parents can utilize to keep their furry family members healthy.

‼PREVENTION IS BETTER THAN CURE – FOXTAIL SEASON‼
Foxtails should be taken very seriously as they have the potential to cause significant secondary problems once they have entered the skin, respiratory tract, or ge***al tract. Late spring and early summer are the most common times of year to see foxtails. The unique structure of the foxtail allows them to attach to our pet’s fur and utilize them as a seed dispersal vehicle. If the foxtail is allowed to pe*****te the skin, paws, ears, nose or ge***alia of an animal, it can result in infection, inflammation, and severe pain. Foxtails can migrate to various areas of our pet’s bodies causing significant secondary complications. Scheduling an appointment with your veterinarian immediately is always recommended – HOWEVER – as it becomes more and more difficult to obtain a timely veterinary appointment, pet parents are encouraged to adopt some simple practices: 🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾
WATCH FOR FOXTAILS
• Ears
• Eyes
• Mouth
• Nose
• Between the toes
• Under the skin
• Genitalia
KEEP YOUR PET HAPPY AND SAFE – BE PROACTIVE
• AVOID areas with foxtails
• EXAMINE your pet after playing outside
• REMOVE all foxtails
• WATCH for sneezing, paw licking and head shaking
• AVOID the need for veterinary care
