Returning to in-person, join us at Strutt With Your Mutt on Sunday, October 3, 2021 in the Brookside neighborhood! 2,000 dogs and their people will participate in the 3K walk or 5K run, together celebrating Wayside Waifs. Strutt is more than a walk/run event - it's a morning filled with so much fun....

Hello, all my adoring fans!

Welcome to all the newcomers and to everyone else, thanks for sticking around! I have recently been very busy tending to my mama, who has been battling some serious health related issues. If you could please put your paws together and send healing thoughts her way, I'd really appreciate it.

For those that are new, my name is Splinter! I'm not exactly sure what my mix is, but we think maybe Maltese and Yorkie. Yorkamalt? Malkie? Who knows. In late July of 2018, I was hit by a car. The cruel person didn't even stop, but a really nice guy in the parking lot rushed me to Wayside Waifs for help. I was only a baby at the time, so the car did a lot of damage to by tiny body. It was determined that one of my front legs was not salvageable. Dr. Kelly did an amazing job with my amputation, and I went to live with my foster for about 6 months. The other dog in the home wasn't my biggest fan, so even though my foster really wanted me to stay, we had to search for my forever family. I found the Brown's and never looked back! Today, I am thriving. My favorite things to do are cuddle, play in the backyard and chew on bones. Thanks to Wayside, my life was saved, and I was able to live a normal life of a rescue pup!

Splinter arrived at Wayside Waifs in late August of 2019, and was badly injured. It appeared that he'd been hit by a car, and at only 4 pounds, his tiny body suffered greatly. One of his front legs could not be saved, so Dr. Kelley and the veterinary team at Wayside performed a full amputation.

We're almost to the starting line, everyone! Thank you all so much for your donations so far. If you signed up to be a 5k partner for Team Splinter, the below photo is your next steps. Everyone else is welcome to join in! Take videos and photos of you and your furry family members being active. One year ago today... tiny Splinter (around 4 pounds at the time) came home with me to recover from amputation. The Wayside medical team were able to pull off a fantastic procedure. I then started the socialization process with Floyd, a "Confidence College" behavior foster who was there to show Splinter the ropes. Their friendship was one of the most gentle, beautiful things I've ever seen. I can't wait til they can reunite for a play date some day!

In addition to loving dog friends, Splinter is also a huge cat lover! Cats are getting to participate in Strutt this year as well! Join Splinter and all of his pals to help raise money for the staff and volunteers who saved his life.

The 2020 Strutt With Your Mutt event is virtual! While we won't be having the big event in Brookside this fall, we encourage participants to have their own mini strutt around the block or at a neighborhood park with their furry friend - really any activity you can do with your pets! Then join us on....
