Meet Maggie Our Featured Pet Of The Day!! Maggie is a 3-year-old spayed Shichon. Did you know that the highest percentage of parasites have been found in local dog parks, some of which are not worms but other forms of parasites your pets can not prevent exposure to with current preventative care measures. There is a smaller percentage of parasites that live just along walkways as well. Our best recommendation for protecting your pet is to have routine checks of your dog’s stool (p**p) as a way to detect and treat parasites early before symptoms start. Screening should be performed every 3 to 12 months based on exposure frequency. Please let us know if you need to schedule an appointment with us.

Meet Bo Our Featured Pet Of The Day!! Bo is a 6-year-old beagle mix. Did you know that is it is very important for puppies to get a full series of parvo vaccines before they can be properly socialized with other dogs. Even if your dog has had 1-2 vaccines, they are still susceptible to developing symptoms if exposed. The other concern is even with treatment these patients will shed the virus for weeks to months. We recommend that your pet be isolated from other unvaccinated dogs until they have had their full vaccine series. Please let us know if you need a vaccine appointment.

Meet Doc Holliday Huckleberry our Featured Pet of The Day!! Dr. Holliday Huckleberry is a 3-year-old neutered Great Dane. Did you know that Heartworm disease is contracted by mosquitos. The Larva are deposited when the mosquito feeds and as the larva develops it migrates to the heart where it can cause enough damage that your pet can develop heart failure. There is also immune reactions that can occur when their immune system responds to the worms during infection and also during treatment. We highly recommend preventing this disease when ever possible and year-round.
