Are you interested in improving your performance in obedience or rally? Do you need to build precision, improve body awareness, build confidence or provide clear communication? Do you need to improve your moment marking skills?
Platforms are a fun training tool for providing clarity and teaching your dog a wide variety of precise skills while building teamwork and behaviors crucial to success in dog sports.
In this class you will learn how to use moment marking and platforms to build teamwork, focus and precise positions for heeling, sit, down, stay and finishes. An emphasis can also be placed on fixing behaviors such as crooked sits, crooked fronts, broken stays, slow sits, slow and crooked finishes, sends, hand signals and go outs.
Once the dog is familiar and has a foundation in using a platform, it can be used to create a clear and consistent form of communication that teaches your dog to perform with accuracy, confidence, and speed. Platforms can easily be used to break down any complex behavior into simpler steps, providing a successful and reliable performance. This method is especially helpful for dogs that are prone to anxiety or confusion.
By request I will be offering a class in using platforms for precision. Enrollment is now open and is limited to provide a small group setting. Each team will receive individualized attention and work at their pace weekly to achieve the desired performance. Participants are encouraged to observe and participate as each team works through their individualized lesson. A written goal-oriented lesson plan is provided.
The group class begins January 8th, 2025 at 8:00 PM. The cost is $145.00 for the 6- week group session. Platforms for Precision will be held in the Annex at All Star Dog Sports located at 8316-B SW State Route 7, Blue Springs, MO 64014. The annex is climate controlled and has a foam matted surface. Please bring a mat for under your crate and chair.
