On June 6, 1944, Lance Cpl. Ken Bailey of the British 13th Parachute Battalion jumped out of a plane over Normandy. With him was his “paradog” named Bing. He was one of several K9s who would land in Normandy that day.

Today, 80 years later, on the anniversary of D Day we remember the heroes, both two- and four-legged and their sacrifices. We can never truly thank them enough for their valor.

Fostering/ adopting is a great way to help your community!

We are still at critical capacity at KC Pet Project and are urgently seeking adopters or fosters for our shelter pets. Despite finding homes for an incredible 250 pets during our Spring Frenzy adoption event, we've welcomed 446 new pets into our care, including 236 dogs.

Our team is working tirelessly to match every pet with a loving family, but we need your support to continue our life-saving mission. Tomorrow is Waived Fee Wednesday, a perfect opportunity to welcome a new canine companion into your home!

All dogs over 20 pounds and 6 months old are available for free tomorrow at our KC Campus for Animal Care, Zona Rosa Adoption Center, or from one of our foster homes. Every dog adopted from KC Pet Project comes vaccinated, spayed/neutered, and microchipped! With such a diverse range of dogs in our care, there's a perfect match for every lifestyle. Koda’s getting a medicated bath today and he’s feeling so much better! You can see the trust & gratitude in his face. Our staff member Julie and Koda have become great friends and share a special place in each other’s hearts. Julie’s caring and kindness has been a tremendous influence in Koda’s successful recovery. She’s a true blessing and we’re all grateful for her!

Look who is feeling good enough to sit pretty and ask for a treat - Koda!
In case you haven’t heard, Koda was severely burned in a house fire. He and his dad lost everything, and we’ve been looking for ways to help them. One of our clients who is also a rescuer and author stopped by the hospital with a beautiful book she wrote - “Penny The Pittie, Journey To Freedom “. She shared this heartwarming story with us, which tells the true story of her very own foster pup, Penny! Penny was rescued from a hoarding case here in the northland! We will be taking orders for this beautiful book, and the proceeds will go towards Koda & his dad! If you’d like to order a copy, please call us at the clinic at (816)678-0992. *Update on Koda*
Today Koda is resting comfortably, receiving pain meds, antibiotics and lots of TLC from staff here at the hospital. Rolling Acres has graciously stepped up to help with after care for Chief, Koda’s housemate puppy that succumbed to the smoke, at no cost to Koda’s family. We’re so grateful for this kind, generous gesture! We’re sharing some updated photos of Koda, taken today, as well as photos of the inside of the home where Koda sustained his injuries and Chief lost his life. This family has lost EVERYTHING. We have set up an account to assist Koda and his dad with expenses. We’d like to introduce you to Koda, a survivor of a terrible fire today in Claycomo. The Claycomo police department reached out to us for help treating a dog rescued from a mobile home fire by the Claycomo Fire Department, and of course we said yes! Koda is the sweetest 14 year old Rhodesian Ridgeback mix, and although he suffered 2nd and 3rd degree burns, he was nothing but a good boy! Only when his dad finally arrived at the hospital, did we find out the depth of Koda & his dad’s tragedy and loss. You see, Koda’s dad was in a car accident that totaled his car recently and has been riding a bicycle 13 miles each day to continue making it to work. He, Koda, and Koda’s housemate, a 3 month old puppy, lived in the mobile home, and today they lost everything. Unfortunately, the puppy did not survive. Koda’s dad is devastated. In just a few short days he lost his car, his home, one of his beloved dogs, and Koda is fighting for his life. We plan to do all we can to help Koda and his dad, and wanted to share their story with the community as we know the love and support that is out there for those in need. We got the 911 call for Rusty! He will be put down TOMORROW Friday 3/29 unless he can find a home or rescue to save him! The shelter says he's hurting himself in his kennel and needs OUT. Rusty is dog-friendly and adores people. He is dealing with some hair loss, possibly due to flea allergy dermatitis, but otherwise appears to be in good health. PLEASE someone step up for this both before it is too late!! ⏰😫🙏
