West End Farm had a wonderful summer showing!

In June, we headed to HITS Chicago, which was an instant favorite. Lots of ribbons were won, but more importantly our riders gained experience and skills. Favorite comment of the week: "I learned more in one week of showing here than I have at every other show!"

In August, the barn spent the week at Maffit Lake Equestrian Center. It was a lovely week with beautiful weather and lots of firsts-first A show for some riders, first out of town show for others, and first show at the height for still another. Once again, the barn brought home ribbons, as well as lots of good experience and some serious bonding for our riders.

Next the barn will travel to St. Louis for St. Louis Charity Horse Show. Looking forward to a fun week and hopefully some fall weather!

Weather update: the storm is here, but so far nothing too extreme. Rain and wind. Seems to be lightening up again (for now). All of the horses and buildings are safe and sound.

Sterling (JC: I'm A Spot) is an 11 year old 16.1 TB gelding. Don't let his breed fool you, this guy is QUIET. A stick and spur ride all day, even at shows and on cross country. Dead honest, always jumps the jump no matter how poorly you set him up and takes a joke.

Sterling was champion at 2'6 at his last hunter show and has also been XC schooling where he never refused a single jump (did I tell you this guy is honest?). Changes are there but not auto, but could easily be developed to be auto. Scope for higher with the right program.

Offered for lease only because his owner is moving to California and needs some time to get settled. Suitable for an advanced beginner on up in a program. 🔟k/year to a perfect home only.

We have 2 spots remaining for our June 10-13 camp, and just one left for the July 8-11 session.

Camps run from 9am- 1:30pm and are $325 per week. Camps are open to all levels of riders, ages 6-12. We offer daily riding lessons, crafts, games and more in a friendly, welcoming environment.

This is an Ice On The Line appreciation post! 🧊 The old man is 22 this year, and when Sydney said she wanted to take him to a show, I wasn't sure. But Ice rocked and rolled around the 2'3 and even did his signature move of taking a stride out in the last line! 💃🏻 Sydney asked to try the 2'6 at Longview and I said she could try it, just once, and if it went badly they had to stop. I'll be darned if Ice didn't make easy work of the 2'6 limit and win some ribbons against the warmbloods. This guy is a saint and a joy in our lives, and we're so blessed to have him and have him feeling so great! I hope he'll be out showing for years to come!

We had a blast at Longview I! WEF brought 7 horse/rider combinations to the show. The courses were beautiful, and the show ran so smoothly despite the record number of entries! Congratulations go to Nora Gallagher for conquering her first 18" classes on Carolina Rose, Natalie Jin for her first 18" division on Confetti, Luna Jesik for huge improvements with her boy Zeus, Caroline Hawkinson for her 2'6 championship with Sterling and Mayzie Wright for her 2'6 reserve on Confetti!

Thanks also go out to Ashley Behlen and Lara Roach for a perfect show weekend. We appreciate you so much!

We are so excited to announce our partnership with Abraham's Jumpers LLC on the purchase of the legendary mare Unspoken. Unspoken (Holsteiner Verband Chanel) did numerous international hunter derbies and International Derby Championships before moving into a successful career in the Grand Prix ring. Known for her amazing character, Unspoken could do a Grand Prix and the hunters in the same day.

Now retired, Unspoken has arrived at West End Farm to helm our new breeding program, focused on the best European competition lines. We are so excited to see what she will produce!

Our 2024 show season has come to a close! A lot of ribbons were won, year end awards were earned, goals were met and exceeded, and friendships were made and solidified.

More than anything, I want to say how grateful I am for our incredible clients. We have the BEST barn community, full of good horsemanship and genuinely good human beings. I'm proud of our students when they win ribbons, but I'm even more proud when I see them helping other riders and cheering them on. Coaching young people isn't just about results, it's about helping build them into confident, compassionate, resourceful young adults. And I think we are going to send some wonderful young adults into the world.

Thank you to all of our clients, our incredible staff that keeps the farm running while we're at shows, and everyone who puts on these fantastic shows. Excited for 2024!

Last weekend, WEF brought 6 horses and 8 students to the Kansas Hunter Jumper Association - KHJA/KCPHA) show at Longview Horse Park. Our students ranged from 8-adult and showed in every division from the crossrails to the 2'6. All of our riders earned ribbons, but most importantly, they and their horses gained valuable skills and experience. Thank you so much to Ashley Behlen and Lara Roach for putting on a great show! We had a blast in spite of the cold, windy weather.

On Sunday, in addition to the show, I took a group of four riders XC schooling for their first time. Everyone rode great and their horses rose to the new challenge admirably. Our hunter/jumpers may not be rushing to switch to eventing, but everyone enjoyed broadening their horizons. I also took Rachel James' amazing Winn for our third XC schooling together. There are big things in store for this young horse!

Thank you so much to everyone who came out to show or school, and to the parents who braved the cold to support their kiddos. We appreciate you!

Big news! Our lesson program is back!

We recently welcomed Emily Whitehead to the team. Emily showed extensively as a junior, then studied equine science at Morrisville State College. Before coming to us, she worked for several equine facilities in Johnson County.

West End Farm has one rare spot open for boarding after sending one of our longtime boarders off to college. Our stall boarding is $750 per month and includes daily turnout on 80 acres of lush pasture, Purina feeds, top quality brome and alfalfa hay, supplements and blanketing as needed. All boarders must participate in our training program with a minimum of one group lesson per week (not included in boarding fee). Interested in joining our community? Exciting news! We have three new little heartbeats at West End Farm! Our Swedish mare Mimosa (Vermouth) is confirmed with a heartbeat to Cassini II sin Carmargue (pictured is his son Major, who has had a successful career in the 1.60s with Aaron Vale).

Cleopatra K (Roman K) is confirmed in foal to 1.60 stallion Clyde VA, and Social Graces (Gonzilla) is confirmed with a heartbeat to Smoke Tree Dragon Tail.

What a great first day at the Kansas City Professional Horseman's Association show at West End Farm!

Justine Fauci and Sterling had their very first show together, taking on the Ground Poles division and earning reserve champion!

Lincoln Ely had his first show as the owner of Ice On The Line and his second show ever, and took reserve champion in the Crossrails division!

Natalie Jin and Hershey Kisses did the 18" verticals division for the first time and took home a blue ribbon in their first hunter class out of eight competitors!

Last but not least, Luna Jesik has been working very hard with her new horse Perfectly Ruby, who is new to both the hunter ring and jumping in general. Today her hard work paid off with some super trips in the 18" verticals, and her first second place ribbon with her mare!

It's an exciting day here at West End Farm as our real life unicorn, Canadian WB Cleopatra K, is confirmed in foal to Hickstead Derby winner Clyde VA! Thank you so much Lauren Elizabeth and Maggie Jacobs!

Not to be outdone, our WBx mare Social Graces is confirmed in foal to Smoke Tree Dragon Tail!

We have a few more to confirm, so stay tuned! We are going to have some amazing foals on the ground in 2024!

Kaiser Von C is a 9 year old 16.1 Trakehner gelding. He has been produced for the past year as a dressage horse, and absolutely excels at dressage. Lately he's been doing the hunters and eq with a 14 year old, and he excels at that too! There isn't an English discipline that this gelding wouldn't win at.

Stick and spur quiet, absolutely no prep required, always always jumps, doesn't need to see the ring. Waltzed right into his first 2'9 class (his rider's second) and took reserve champion in a foot of mud.

Kai was gelded late and while he would never do anything malicious (no bite or kick), he is playful on the ground. He would do best with an intermediate handler and a program. Under saddle, grandma can ride him. Super sound, no vices.
