Typically, once we decide to hold an animal back, it’s staying here for a bit. But every once in a while, a customer does talk us out of a holdback animal or we may offer one up if they missed out on something similar. That was the case with this amazing Grey Matter paradox we hatched out. That GOLD patch is super cool! We’ll definitely miss watching this guy grow up over here, but his new owners are absolutely thrilled with him and have some great project plans for him down the road. Can’t wait to get updates! ☺️

We had such a great time at the Cold Blooded Expos in Overland Park yesterday! Thanks to all the people that stopped by to look at our tables and chat with us. We thought this would be an eye-catching and educational post to better show some more of the Kenyan sand boa (KSB) genetics.

▪️ADULTS:
The big orange one across the bottom is the dam (mom) to our most recent clutch. She’s an Albino 100% Het Anery. The sire (dad) is the smaller adult at the top. He’s an Anery Paint 100% Het Albino and reminds us of cookies ‘n’ cream! 🤤 Adult males are typically noticeably smaller than adult females as you can see here.

▪️BABIES:
Then the 4 babies display the 4 different genetic combo variations that were possible from this litter. From left to right, the orange one is an Albino, the pink one is a Snow (combination of Albino and Anery), the darker orange one is a “Normal”, and the grayscale one is an Anery.

Note: All of the babies are also carrying heterozygous genes, but that wasn’t meant to be the focus of this post — just the visual genetics.

Something new for us and we’re pretty excited about it! Check out this litter of SAND BOAS that were born earlier this month. 10 perfect babies. All already eating well too!

We bred our Anery Paint Het Albino male to our Albino female. When we found the babies, we realized our female had been hiding a lovely surprise. She proved out to also be Het Anery. BONUS! 🎉

Here are the different varieties in the litter:

- Normal 100% Triple Het Anery Paint Albino
- Anery 100% Double Het Paint Albino
- Albino 100% Double Het Anery Paint
- Snow (Albino Anery) 100% Het Paint

We’re in Bellevue, NE today. Giving this Cold Blooded Expos show a try. First time for us at this venue. Wish us luck! 🎉
