Weekly check on the snakes brumating. Funny that they chill in water bowls in the upper 30s-low 40s rather than the 54° back of the tub. Will be warming them up in a month.

2021 1.2 Perry KS, red milk snakes.

All 3 are super looking, but 2 are definitely top shelf, and the male is as radiant as his father. They are F1's from a WC pair I collected. All 3 eat well on FT pinkies. I hate to see these go, but I need room. These are priced to move.

SOLD

2023 1.1 Big Horn Montana pale milk snakes available. The female is large for a hatchling of this subspecies, so she makes the male (which is of typical size) look small.

Both feeding on FT pinkies. (Notice the meals in the bellies)

Rattlesnakes need safe places too.... especially those in TX.

Scared of rattlesnakes? They're afraid of you, too. And it turns out that, like humans, the slithery reptiles may rely on others of their kind to stay calm in times of stress.

Yesterday was day 64 for these Lyons plains milk snakes. Woke up on day 65 with 2 of the 3 outside the egg. The 3rd one had not pipped. Often in snake forums I see questions regarding this situation. How I handle it is as follows.

For small clutches, I cut after 24hrs. For large clutches, I cut after 48hs but as long as 72hrs.

1. If I can, I gently remove any eggs adhering to the egg that hasn't pipped.
2. I gently use an Exacto knife and slice a couple spots of the egg. It's is extremely important to only cut the shell. Go too deep you risk injuring the snake or cutting veins causing the snake to bleed out.
3. Squeeze a little bit of yolk out. This creates a pocket of air. I then pinch the egg where my slice was. I use the Exacto to remove some of the shell while I'm pinching the egg. This creates a small window.
4. I poke the snake with anything blunt that can fit through the opening I created. If the snake is alive, it'll move slightly. Do not disturb once you do this. Further manipulation may cause the snake to leave the egg prematurely or even with the yolk sac still attached.
