“Bear is a true werewolf that has learned how to howl and bark on command. You might see him playing at bar K everyday with his best friend Nyko the husky! He loves going to Camp Bow Wow while his mom is at work! He is a champ at learning new tricks and he recently just learned how to swim! He grew up around four french bulldogs so he believes he is the same size even though he is triple their weight and height!“

“I may get confused with the Andy Reid, but my name STEVE the bulldog. I am rescue from Sioux City, IA in 2020 and moved to the big K.C in 2021 and never looked back. Normally I am sleepy potato but at Bar K - I put my Chiefs hat on and it’s time to play. My favorite game to play is run away from my human, when it is time to go. You may thinking its a funny sight to see, but I get tired often and get carried out, including a few Royals games. If you catch me in the rain I am dead weight - all 65 pounds of me. Next time you vist Bar K stop by feel free to say hi - I am that guy wearing the Chiefs hat.

Introducing our beloved Member Dog of the Week, Pepper!
“A Tribute to Pepper
Born into the squalor of a Missouri Puppy Mill, Pepper escaped and soon found himself in the loving arms of his mother Ivry, where he would remain for the next 18 years. Paired with his fellow dachshund and best friend Kirby, Pepper would live an incredible life full of adventure, mischief, and love. Strong and athletic, Pepper was a champion Weiner dog racer in his youth, and as late as his 17th birthday was still climbing staircases and swimming in pools. In his later years he traveled extensively, visiting nearly 20 states. His proudest moment, however, was escorting his mother down the aisle on her wedding day. Pepper was a daily presence at Bar K, where his greying but still handsome face, soft velvety fur, and cuddly nature never failed to capture attention and melt hearts. He was especially good with children. Small in stature but big in spirit, Pepper touched many lives and spread immeasurable joy. He will be missed.“
Meet Bento, our Member Dog of the Week! 🐾 Bento, a rescue from KC Pet Project, faced severe separation anxiety and destructive behaviors. Solutions suggested ranged from medication to possible euthanasia, but his dedicated family never gave up on him.
Through patience and care, Bento found his happy place socializing with other dogs and chasing tennis balls. Now, he enjoys calm, cuddly moments at home without any medication. Here’s to Bento, a true testament to the power of love and resilience! ❤️🏆

🐾 Meet our Member Dog of the Week, Nyko! 🐾 Nyko is a master of evasion at Bar K, making everyone chase him before he’s caught, only to play dead once on a leash. He’s a Dairy Queen, demanding cheese tax under threat of sass. Out of all the toys, Nyko loves teacup Chihuahua tennis balls the most, expertly retrieving them from cushions and under fridges. He also adores tugging toys, especially Mr. Monkey—he’s gone through 23 in three years! Nyko has a knack for shredding cash and getting treats from the bank with the pieces. He won’t eat regular dog food, only human-grade dehydrated chicken on his personal plate and bed. He’s a trick master, giving kisses on command but only if you’re worthy. And if there’s snow, don’t expect him inside without a 30-minute chase! 🌟 #MemberDogOfTheWeek #BarKPack
🐾 Meet our Member Dog of the Week, Willow! 🐾 Willow is the happiest girl who wants to be best friends with everyone. Rescued from Kentucky at age 2, she’s now a confident, social butterfly. Fun fact: Willow doesn’t understand swimming and wonders why she can’t just walk on water! She loves snuggling with mom, walks with her older brother, chasing squirrels, playing with doggo friends, camping, and hiking. She dislikes runs over 2 miles, non-fresh water, and waking up before 7AM. 🌟

Rescued from South Texas, Mooch is bilingual! He’s been a proud Kansas City resident for almost 3 years and is a dedicated Royals and Chiefs fan. As the City Market mascot and guard dog, Mooch loves supporting local bars, restaurants, and breweries (the dog-friendly ones, of course).
Mooch enjoys playing at Bar K, going for walks, swimming, and surfing in the ocean. He’s a water lover and always excited to get new toys. Plus, he’s a well-traveled pup, exploring the U.S. with his best smile and natural tuft of white hair. Fun fact: he’s a picky eater!

Meet Angus, our lovely Member Dog of the Week. Here’s what her mom had to say about her - “Angus is almost 13 years old, but you’d never know! She herded cows for the first 8 years of her life and is now living the best retirement life any border collie could imagine. She has been a Bar K member for almost 3 years, starting in STL and now here in KC. She LOVES to play fetch with literally anything. Stick? Yes. Ball? Yes. Frisbee? Absolutely. Pencil? Basically a mini stick, so yes. Leaf? She’ll make it work. 5lb weight? There will be an attempt. Anyway... you get the point. Angus can usually be found trying to con everyone at Bar K (except me) to play fetch with her. Many times you won’t even know she’d been staring at you for 5+ minutes waiting for you to throw her ball since she won’t make a peep.”

🐾✨ Meet Royale, our Member Dog of the Week 🌟 Royale was a lovable German shepherd puppy who left us too soon at 6 months old. He adored squeaky tennis balls and needed new ones every four days! Royale was quite the escape artist, able to open any door in the house, so his family had to get baby-proof knobs. He loved to sleep with his head on the pillow and his body under the blankets, just like a human. Royale’s loving and caring nature left a beautiful impact on everyone around him. ❤️🐶
