October is officially here, and pumpkin is back in season! The beloved Pumpkin Spice Latte or PSL is back on most coffee shop menus and pumpkin-flavored everything is on grocery shelves. Get your furry family members in on the seasonal fun! Try this dog-approved and pet-friendly PSL recipe created with your pup in mind:
Ingredients:
1 cup coconut milk
1 cup pumpkin puree
A pinch of cinnamon
A pinch of ground ginger
Whipped cream (optional)
How to make:
Place all ingredients (aside from optional whipped cream) in a blender and mix for about one minute.
After mixture is blended, serve a small amount to your dog. Top with whipped cream if desired.
Please ensure whipped cream does NOT contain xylitol.
Place the remainder of the pup-approved latte in an airtight container and store it in the refrigerator. This will keep fresh for about a week if it remains refrigerated.
Pumpkin is a wonderful fall treat for your dog to enjoy as it is high in Vitamin A, C, E, iron, potassium, fiber, and is great for digestion! When offering your dog a new treat of any kind, it is best to start small to ensure their stomach can handle the snack. If you have any questions about whether your dog can enjoy a specific treat, please contact your veterinarian for more insight and information.
