Introducing Dr. Owen!

Dr. Sarah Owen was born and raised in Houston, TX. She graduated from Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, TX, with a Bachelors in Science. She earned her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine at Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in the West Indies and lived there in the Caribbean for 3 years. For her clinical year of veterinary school, she attended Texas A&M School of Veterinary Medicine. While in school, she trained in veterinary acupuncture for small animals through the Chi Institute in Florida. Dr. Owen is committed to empowering pet owners and thoroughly enjoys forming a relationship with her wonderful patients and their pet parents. Her areas of interest are dermatology, preventative care, and surgery. Outside of the clinic, she enjoys exploring new restaurants in the Houston area, painting, and taking care of her many plants. Dr. Owen shares her home with her fiance, two dogs, one cat, and two snakes.

This week is National Pet Poison Prevention Week!

It’s not something we like to think about, but there are a number of items in and around our homes that are poisonous to pets. With any potential dangers or toxins, it is important to keep them out of paws’ reach. While accidents can happen, the less accessible these items are, the less likely your pet is to get into them!

Are you ready for the holidays?!

Just a reminder that while we want to keep our furry friends close to us during these special times there are a few things to keep in mind to make sure they safely enjoy the festivities!

Some decorations such as tinsel, string lights, candles, and Christmas trees can look like treats or toys. Keep this in mind when setting up your home and always monitor your pets activity.

A few foods that are not recommended:

🎄Onions
🎄Grapes/Raisins
🎄Alcohol
🎄Turkey Bones
🎄Nuts

Make sure to check in with your vet before the holiday for any medication and prevention refills. The holiday season can cause fluctuations in business hours so plan ahead!
