The only thing that will change a dog’s behavior permanently is if the environment the dog lives in responds differently to the dog consistently, over a long enough period of time.

Dog training is essentially human training. If the human wants to see results in training, the human has to be willing to change their habits and shift the dynamic in the home to facilitate their desired outcome. There is no other way.

It can NEVER be ‘just training the dog’.

Lily is a 2 year old Bichon Frisé and has developed some reactivity issues which have formed from allowing her too much unearned freedom, barking out windows, not enough boundaries indoors with the other dog in the house, and a general lack of socialization due to the Covid shut down when she was a puppy.

Gotham is a very high drive 1 1/2 year old lab who belongs to first time dog owners. His teeth even chatter from excitement. Today, I got to see the behaviors they are struggling with: intense triggers to keys and when his dad leaves.

Client ➡️ Jaina Liwanag and Milo (5 months old, Chihuahua husky mix ❤️) practiced intermediate combinations at the end of the session yesterday. Milo was having trouble with his “left”. I worked Milo doing figure 8s through my legs doing “left turning heels” for a few repetitions then, left it to Jaina 🙌🏼. Here’s the progress video the next afternoon!! Milo makes this look easy! I AM SO EXCITED for their rapid progress 💜💜🤗🤗

Listen 🔊 You can hear the impact when Kilo hit me. This was definitely an experience! Each run we did lasted 2-5 minutes and I was totally out of breath at the end. The weight of the suit, the muscle engagement, and cardio had me like 😮‍💨😮‍💨😮‍💨😮‍💨😮‍💨.

I got to learn what personal protection is all about today with Corie and Diesel. Here’s us 3 doing sleeve work.

Meet Birdie the 20 week old Westie! Her and her handler are preforming “Stop and Walk” drills where Birdie must walk on command and stop on command. This is the precursor to her intermediate “Heel”. They are doing a phenomenal job! (🚨NOT caught on camera) Birdie gave us quite a tantrum at the beginning of the drills. She wanted to do what she wanted to do and not take guidance. After a few repetitions and showing her that we were not going to fight back or give in, she made the decision to comply 🥳👏🏼. Big win!
