Bay County Pet Cemetery

Bay County Pet Cemetery We are a small group of dedicated volunteers working together to clean up the cemetery and to maintain it for others' enjoyment. Want to help out?

Contact Sarita to volunteer - (989-545-1846) and Jim for any maintenance questions (989-245-0376). A small volunteer group interested in maintaining the Bay County Pet Cemetery. Jim and Fred are the primary caretakers that do all the mowing and are looking for helpers to come weedwack 1 foot around each cemetary marker. Looking for a way to help out in your community? The cemetery is open to anyon

e to go any day. Clippers, weedwackers, and work gloves go a long way! Interested in burying your pet there? Reach out to the messaging app for more information and guidance from Jim, a friendly and insightful neighbor. Just note that the cemetery has been used for multiple decades so you may come upon an old grave (respectfully re-inter any animals found). All animals must be buried at 40 inches deep and the roots are difficult to get through. Any animals not buried in this manner may be dug up by wild animals or become exposed following heavy rains. So please, come prepared!

I know a lot of people have said they would like to help, just letting you know that the Cemetery has been cut and could use some serious w**d whacking. So if you want to come out, you will see how close we can get with the mowers and w**d whack around the headstones we can hopefully cut it again before Memorial Day but if not it will be cut the week after. Thank You!!

Thank You for your interest in giving the Pet Cemetery consideration for a resting place for your Beloved Pet but I am not the owner of it and have tried to help with this process to ensure that you have a place to be able to give your Pets a place for Eternal Rest and a Place for You to Visit them.

This Property has been abandoned by the original owners family and the Township does not have any interest in giving it the care that it needs to be maintained. I have tried to Organize Clean Up efforts to make it easier to maintain over the last few years. Myself and my Neighbor have tried to keep it cut and I have had many of you that have said you would be more than happy to help with making this property nice once again but when I have scheduled these Clean Ups, no one shows up. The Cemetery is beginning to get out of control with the amount of recent burials and animals are being buried in places they shouldn’t be and also being buried where others have already been buried.

I am also receiving calls in the middle of the night asking about how to go about Funerals and what needs to be done to bury the pets that have passed. I am willing and have been willing to help with your losses but again this is getting overwhelming for the fact that I don’t need to be called in the middle of the night, the guidelines that we have tried to establish are not being followed and the help that has been offered is nonexistent.

I am willing to give this one last effort this summer to help you with a nice place for you to lay your Pets to Rest but I need your help for this to happen. I regret to have to say this but if improvement and changes to the issues stated don’t happen, I am going to have to contact the township on how to go about getting it closed. This Pet Cemetery has been something I have been involved with over 50 years going back to my childhood and I know how nice it once was and would like to see it have structure again but this is only possible with the help of those who use it.

I am sorry if this causes some to be upset but again I’m not the owner, nor am I in charge of what can and cannot happen here but eight years ago when I moved into my house, the cemetery was overgrown and was a dumpster for debris. I agreed to help a young lady with trying to clean it up and improve it but it has recently became a situation where it has been left entirely up to me to maintain and I truly apologize for the situation but I have no choice but to ask for an honest effort to get it under control by those who are using it or try to get it closed.
