Hauling season is upon us!

With that being said, we'd like to let our clients know things have slowed down with the postal service after recent changes they have made.

We're asking anyone planning trips that need updated testing, such as Coggins for horses, trich for bulls, B. Ovis for rams, etc. to allow extra time for results to get back to us and put on your health papers.

We know sometimes trips can be decided last minute. But right now, overnighting any packages going to the lab costs a minimum of $30 (which is added to the price of your paperwork and testing), so we'd like to avoid that if at all possible. Overnighting is the only guarantee it will get there the next day. If we send it ground, it could sit in a distribution facility for a day or two before getting sent on to the lab. That, on top of the time it takes to run the test, could be a serious delay.

Import requirements vary by state and species, so feel free to call us and we can check them for you. From there we can make an appointment to get the appropriate testing and paperwork done and get you on the road!

We will have our techs in from time to time and able to return messages while she is gone.

One of our clients in Kaycee had this sweet girl show up on her doorstep on Barnum Road. She's some type of hound, estimated to be about 4 years or so. She is very friendly and wiggly. Please message us or get a hold of Terri Gosney if she is yours or know who's she might be.

Attention horse owners! There have been 2 recent confirmed cases of West Nile Virus infected horses in Sheridan County and 1 confirmed cast in Johnson County!
If you have not vaccinated your horses this year, we strongly recommend getting that done ASAP, as case numbers typically go up in the fall!

Our Kaycee hospital will be closed on Monday, July 3rd and Tuesday, July 4th in observance of Independence Day. Dr. Vondra will only be available for emergencies. If you have an emergency, please call 307-738-2413 and it will give you the number for our emergency phone. If no answer, please leave a message and someone will get back to you as soon as possible.

Also, a friendly reminder to keep our animal friends in a safe place in preparation and during fireworks being set off. A lot of animals who are calm through a variety of other situations are scared of such loud noises and can run off. Distressed animals can end up in places they normally wouldn't. Do them and yourselves a favor and have a plan for them over the holiday weekend as many people set fireworks off all weekend and in the daytime before July 4th.

Howdy folks! Spring seems to finally be here and calves are hitting the ground. Some places may be already done calving and getting ready for breeding season. With that, we have been heading out and doing some breeding soundness exams on our male bovine friends. Sadly, we have been seeing problems with reduced semen quality in older herd bulls due to the harsh conditions we've had all winter. Let us come out and make sure your bulls are going to be able to get the job done for you this summer and have a great breed up this fall at pregchecking time. There's no sense in keeping a bull that's shooting blanks! Give us a call at the Kaycee office to get on the schedule before turn out! 307-738-2413.

Since some of our clients may have XYLAZINE on hand for its labeled, legal use as an animal sedative, we want to raise awareness of a growing abuse issue involving people injecting xylazine into their bodies, often with tragic consequences.

This is a reminder to clients to store all prescription medicines for their animals in a safe, secure area, especially if children are around!
