Last week on the Pet Doc, we learned about Kidney Disease. This week, we are learning how to manage Kidney Disease in our pets. Thank you, Dr. Brandon, for the amazing information. Here are some takeaways from this segment and what you can do at home to manage this disease!

🐾 Water intake- Let them drink as much as they want.
🐾 Diet- Royal Canin Renal Support is one of Dr. Brandon’s favorite.
🐾 Antacids- Kidneys get rid of toxins and acids. Stomachs are the most acidic spots in our bodies.
🐾 Blood pressure medication
🐾 Production of red blood cells
🐾Subcutaneous fluids

Stelfonta is an intralesional injection used to treat non-metastatic mast cell tumors in dogs. Stelfonta is injected directly into the tumor and activates a protein that breaks down tumor cells. It starves the tumor cells' blood supply and creates a wound at the injection site that heals on its own

🐾Thunder’s case is a great example of how this injection works.
He was 2 years old and we saved the leg by doing Stelfonta. Thunder now dock dives for competition and wouldn't have been able without this treatment.
