Fourth of July is one of the top holidays that pets run off, & get lost due to the Fireworks. Some tips to keep your pet safe include: medication, making sure their microchip information is up-to-date, they have a collar with their name, & information, and making sure all doors and windows are locked. Another helpful tip is keeping the TV or a radio on to block out some of the outside noise.

With the help of little Ms. Basia, we present you today’s #SpotlightSaturday breed — the #WelshTerrier!!
According to the akc.org, Welsh Terriers are part of the #TerrierGroup (surprise!), & are defined as, “intelligent, friendly, & spirited”. They were first recognized as a breed in 1888!!
The @americankennelclub goes on to further describe this breed as follows - “The Welsh Terrier is as alert and spirited as any self-respecting terrier, but a bit calmer than most, 'game, not quarrelsome,' as breed fanciers say. The Welshman was bred to do battle with badgers, otters, and other dangerous opponents. Sturdy, compact, and rugged, with a tight-fitting black-and-tan coat and a rectangular head featuring folded ears and a jaunty beard, Welsh are constructed along the classic lines of Britain's long-legged terriers. They stand about 15 inches at the shoulder, a little larger than the Lakeland Terrier but much smaller than the mighty Airedale. All three breeds, however, share a family resemblance: An ancient breed called the Old English Black and Tan Terrier is thought to be the granddaddy of these and some other British terriers.”
As with all breeds, we highly recommend in-depth, extensive research before adding to your pack.
**Pets are a lifelong commitment, and should never be given as a gift. Along with that, before bringing another pet into your family please understand there are years of commitment and care involved with the love of an animal.”

Barbie, the #BassettHound, reporting for #SpotlightSaturday Duty! 🩷🐾
To no one’s surprise the Bassett Hound is part of the #HoundGroup, and was originally recognized in 1885 by the @americankennelclub. The breed is defined on akc.org as, “charming, patient, & low-key”.
The #AmericanKennelClub goes on to describe the Basset Hound as follows, “Among the most appealing of the AKC breeds, the endearing and instantly recognizable Basset Hound is a perennial favorite of dog lovers all over the world. This low-slung and low-key hound can be sometimes stubborn, but is always charming. The Basset Hound stands no higher than 14 inches at the shoulder but, with his remarkably heavy bone, powerful little legs, and massive paws, he possesses big-dog strength and stamina. Bassets are famous for a large, domed head that features extremely long, velvety ears, mournful eyes, and a wrinkled brow, which give the breed the look of a sad clown. Built more for endurance than speed, the Basset moves in a deliberate but effortless manner. The breed's scenting ability is uncanny; it's said that among dogs only the Bloodhound's nose is more accurate. Mild and agreeable at home, the Basset is stubborn on the trail and barks in a loud, ringing voice. Although they may not be wildly demonstrative in their affections, they are steadfastly loyal.”
