It’s a Puppy Party!!!

On Tuesday, February 18, 2025 Holly, & Daisy, two Rottweiler-Shepherd mix sisters, came in for their first puppy appointments to see Dr Califano! They both left with their first DHPP vaccines on board, & clean bill of health.

Alfie, a King Charles Cavalier puppy, came in to see Dr Viscarra for his final round of puppy vaccines which included both his, 1 year Rabies & DHPP vaccines.

Rabies is a fatal, zoonotic (aka contagious to people) disease that can be prevented with a vaccine that’s given to dogs, & cats, and ferrets!

DHPP is a combination vaccine that prevents a handful of respiratory diseases when vaccinated yearly, or appropriately to our dogs. In cats this combo vaccine is known as FVRCP!

Hi everyone, we know we haven’t posted a in a while but we figured we’d take the opportunity to show you all how handsome Jack the Anatolian Shepherd is! He came in on Wednesday for a physical, & had all the ladies swooning! 🥰🤎

The defines the as, “reserved, independent, & loyal”. This breed is part of the , and was first recognized in 1996.

“An Anatolian Shepherd Dog is a rugged, imposing flock guardian of ancient lineage. Protective and territorial, but also intelligent, patient, and profoundly loyal, these muscular avengers are prized as working guard dogs without equal. The Anatolian Shepherd Dog stands between 27 and 29 inches at the shoulder and can weigh as much as 150 pounds. Profusely muscled but nimble afoot, Anatolians are more than a match for the predators and harsh terrain of their homeland. Anatolians descend from some of the oldest known domestic-canine bloodlines. This lends the breed a sense of timelessness, a no-frills, untouched quality that takes us back 6,000 years to the Bronze Age. Anatolians are smart, devoted, responsive, and adaptable. They will protect their flock’livestock, children, smaller dogs, even the family cat’with intensity. We’re reaching out to our amazing community for towel donations! 🧺 As an animal hospital, we go through towels quickly to keep our pets warm, clean, and comfortable during their treatments. If you have any gently used towels (bath towels, hand towels, washcloths, etc.) that you no longer need, we’d love to put them to good use!

Please remember that there’s lots of ice salt on the ground that can be toxic to your four legged family members. When coming in from outside we suggest wiping off their paws as an added precaution! 🐕‍🦺🚶🏻‍♀️🚶🏻🌨️

On Saturday, Gigi came in to see her pal Dr. Leary!! 🎁

As most of you know, Gigi lost her dad last summer. Dominic, lovingly known as Nick, was a very close friend of Dr. Leary, and the staff of Arlington Dog & Cat. We immediately rushed in to save her, and her brother Chance, and vowed to find them the best family.

If we fast forward to this Fall, we kept that promise and found her the most perfect home with an ADCH family member!! Chance also found an incredible home with another close friend of ADCH!!

It’s a Holiday Miracle, & we’re so thankful we could help out St. Nick’s fur kids.♥️🐾

We’d like to introduce the newest member of our Royal Puppy Court, Prince!

Prince came straight to the vet this morning after his pawrents picked him up — and we mean straight here.. he doesn’t even know what his royal quarters look like just yet!

We love when our pet parents want the best for their new furry friend, & bring them in for a checkup, deworming, & if appropriate to start vaccine series!

Happy Día de Los Mu***os. 💜💀🧡🫶🏻

We had a fantastic Coincidence in having our Xoloitzcuintli patient Maya visit our office on this very special day! The Aztecs considered this breed sacred, & believe that they guided the souls of the dead through the other side. In the Disney Movie “Coco” we see how important our Xolo friend is on this wonderful day of remembering, & honoring our family members (both human and pet) who have passed.

As a staff we prepared our “Remember Me Ofrenda” for our Family members and pets who are no longer with us. They will always hold a special place in our hearts and it is a great moment to cherish all the good times, laughs and smiles we shared together.

Happy Holidays all!! 🎄🕎🤍🐾 Weather you’re celebrating Christmas, or the beginning of Hanukkah, or something else in your home we hope you have a safe, & happy holiday surrounded by love, and laughter.

Fourth of July is one of the top holidays that pets run off, & get lost due to the Fireworks. Some tips to keep your pet safe include: medication, making sure their microchip information is up-to-date, they have a collar with their name, & information, and making sure all doors and windows are locked.
