New Opprotunity-Old Single Wide-
FULL DISCLOSURE: These videos contain some Expletives!!
Lots happening for the Garden Groves!
At the beginning of March 2020 We purchased 2 Acres in Keaton Beach Florida. The following Videos and Pics are documentation of the process that ensued and continues today. But the Land is ours and the Garden is closer than ever to becoming a reality.
On a super sad side note.... the tiny house that we worked on over the last 3 years is going to have to be left behind :( a mear 20 miles away because it is 12 feet high and the cost to move it was $$$$$$$!!!! So we took our lumps and have started the next Phase of The Garden Groves.
Bath Room: The Finale Touches...β¦. Don't forget the Shower Heads and the Ceiling and a light and several coats of sealer...β¦β¦ There were times when I thought I'd never finish... But I DID IT!!!ππππ₯³
Bath Room Round ??? I took as many photos as Possible so I would never forget the amount of work that went into this project. #newfoundrespects #tilework
Here's a look at Our 85% finished home. And the beginning of our Septic System. Rock ain't Cheep and Thank Goodness for Friends and Good Heart'd Folks. It's all about who ya know. The John Dear really saved our backs and our wallets. Next comes the small details, ie. Shelves, caulk, caulk, more caulk......& little more lipstick and rouge.
Bathroom Round 1 * Cut Drain Holes for shower and toilet *
2 *Tar Paper * 3 * Galvanized Mesh Screen* 4 * Sloped Floor Mud Pan * 5 * Oatey Vinyl Shower Pan (glued down) * 6 *Another Layer of Floor Mud and installation on Linear Drain*
Then, using thin-set mortar I am finally able to start setting tiles. Lots of days spent waiting for concrete to dry properly.
Had to replace a side panel of the house. Rotten wood is never good, especially in what is to be the Bathroom/Shower. So, Old wood out and new wood in. Added a metal Sheathing called a Z Flashing to help insure no rain could get inside the walls where the old wood and new wood meet. With new wood attached we could finally put in our bathroom window and finish running electrical outlets and a light for the outdoor/ back porch laundry area.
BackSplash and SeaShells Oh MY!! .... and grout, don't forget the grout.
The Georgia "Foreman"
Here is a video of the 125ft long trench we had to dig to install our Brand New Upgraded Electrical System. #AnimalsHelping ;)
P.S. wire don't run cheap or easy.
Round 3 with drywall mud. This time the entire ceiling! Which took about 3 days of work to finish Done by hand. First applied in a semi thick flat coat and then pulled/popped out by hand/fingertips. Then gone back over after about 30min of set time and pushed back down lightly to achieve a stucco/orange peal effect. I think it came out perfect. :) Then stained and nailed in trim boards to finish off the rustic feel we want.
Gotta Have a Rolling Kitchen Island for My Chopping Board and more storage. So goodbye My Parents First Stereo Cabinet, Hello Rolling Island. π§ββοΈ
Grouted the kitchen floor, Glued/Sealed Kitchen Sink to Counter Top and Stained the Main Pole. There is no project to small or to big. #closerbytheday
Took apart an old, hinge folding door. Cut out wood from old signs from around town. ( These were collected by our friend Tim after Hurricane winds came thru The Hatch and knocked em down.) I measured the doorway we left for the bathroom and built a 'New' Barn Door style door which will eventually be put on a slide track and become our bathroom door. #resourceful
Round two of Drywall. Once we got all the big pieces up, we had to finish filling in the gaps. Then came the Tape and the Mud. Everyone had tried to warren us of how difficult drywall mudding can be, and it is without a doubt a challenge. Challenge excepted! ;) π
I ran / prepped All Electrical thru-ought house. Then went back and put in All downstairs Insulation. Then we Started the
The 4' x 8' Sheet-Rock Ceiling Challenge..... Spoiler Alert, We Won! π¦And In-between All that, we Framed out the Bath Room. #Closerbytheday
We Laid out the tiles and choose our pattern before we started this project. Planning ahead helps. All I knew was the square footage before I bought tiles. Again, I bought all my tiles from different Re-Stores Months Before we moved. So mixing and matching was the best way to go.... ( cause you can't ask for more tiles from the back of the store.... you get what you can get, when you can get it. Naw Mean ;) Anyways... Here's the KITCHEN FLOOR.
Built Some storage space. Cause you gotta have storage space.
Why Yes, it is a Kitchen Sink Counter made out of an Old Wooden Door ;) π€©π§ββοΈπ
Insulation is key to any home. Working on ladder is always a challenge. But certainly worth the money, time & sweat
Here is Another days work from months ago when we hadn't even moved yet.
