The reason dogs are pushy, entitled, don’t listen, or demanding is more likely due to too much freedom.
.
Take away the privileges they are abusing such as free roam, free access to toys and food, doggie door or bell, couch or bed and affection. Give them a structured schedule, use a leash, enforce permission.
.
Dogs will only do what works and pleases them. The reward is a lifestyle of balance with freedom/affection and structure/discipline.
.
Now Kai can enjoy doing all the activities with his family!
Here, we break down the concept of enforcing threshold boundaries at the door.
.
There are different ways to accomplish this depending on the dog. Some engage a dog with food, voice or affection. The problem we run into, with a lot of dogs, is when the dog sees the distractions out side as FAR more valuable than any reward you give them.
.
The solution is to set and enforce boundaries. Hazel loves to bolt out the door. We needed to make sure she has respect for her owners and only do things with permission.
.
Correcting a dog for engaging with the wrong thing results in calm state of mind. Hazel chose to lay down and eventually took a nap while we talked all while the front door was open.
.
Having control and respect is fairly simple.

Let’s keep things simple!!
.
Hazel the Goldendoodle is a past graduate that I visited today to help her owners further her off leash skills.
.
Going back to keeping things simple, all we added here is a tone, which is a setting on your e collar. We didn’t do any long process with patterning, reinforcement or treats. We kept things very simple with a foundation of “no” for poor choices, and a clear “yes” with praise.
.
Having clear communication is key. Hazel’s owners simply didn’t want her to bolt down the street without permission and have more regard for boundaries.
.
Now her owners can continue reinforcing those boundaries in their daily routine!

Dog ownership is a journey and a lifestyle. Behavior can sometimes be complex because we are working with your dog’s associations with environment and their relationship with you.
.
That doesn’t mean correcting poor choices needs to be complex and long. When it comes to structure and clarity, it should be as simple as “yes” and “no”.
.
Training behavior as a strategy to correct poor choices complicates your life.
.
Return to simplicity.

ALL dogs that come for training learn good social skills and are able to coexist within a pack setting.
.
The dogs are able to get along and exists together because of structure and accountability. They all understand that there are behaviors that are not tolerated and behaviors they can do.
.
When having clear boundaries, the dogs are much more confident and relaxed knowing exactly what’s expected. Then we can have fun!

Hi everyone!
I have a passion for teaching and guiding owners to improve their relationship with their dog.
.
I also had a trouble dog and made all the mistakes in the beginning. Balanced training helped open up my world with my dogs and there is nothing we can’t do together!
.
I offer board & trains as well as private lessons.
.
Visit my website to fill out a contact form. I can’t wait to meet you!
Dog parks are a free for all, fight club. Don’t put your dog in these situations!
.
Instead, go on hike, socialize with dogs you trust, go on an outing, practice obedience at a park, or play fetch in a field.
.
Your dog doesn’t need “friends” to be happy. They need you!!
Ozzy is 5 months old and already learning the language of the e collar! The e collar mimics leash pressure and helps us communicate exactly what we want from our dogs. Wether it be “no” or come this way, or do that, it’s all just different levels of pressure.
.
Message me to learn more about having better communication and accountability!

Some of the things Yato’s owners said:
“He pulls constantly on the the leash” “he lunges at people and other dogs” “He is extremely excited” “He bites hands and jumps on people”
.
We came across barking dogs and friendly humans on our outing today and those old behaviors are no more because of the skills and accountability we gave him!
.
Excited for him to continue his new life with his owners.
