Cats do some odd things that do not fully make sense to us. Cats are known to self-groom, but why do they sometimes lick their fur off in patches?

If you find yourself noticing a bald spot on your cat's stomach or in their armpit, you may think it is normal. However, over-grooming can be a sign of an underlying medical condition. These medical conditions could be food allergies or parasites, fortunately, they are not fatal if treated promptly and properly.

If your cat is experiencing significant hair loss on a particular spot this could indicate external parasites such as mites, fleas, ticks, or a fungal infection. There are several ways veterinarians can check what is happening with your kitty, such as blood samples or skin scrapes. By doing this the veterinarian can properly either make dietary adjustments if it is food allergies or find the right treatment process to help heal whatever is wrong with them. If it is a dietary issue, they could be trying to get to the source of the pain induced by an internal problem, such as kidney stones.

Another reason a cat may over-groom is stress. Cats get nervous easily, especially in new environments. There are things that you can do to help calm your pet down such as giving them extra attention or giving them a private space when company or a new animal is over, you could also take them to your vet to get proscribed anxiety medication.

Cats can over-groom for a lot of reasons and the only way to tell what is wrong with your kitty is to take them to the vet. cats can be harder to tell what is going on. If you notice your cat is acting differently do not hesitate to call us. It is better to be safe than sorry.

Dog f***s can tell you a lot about how your pet is feeling. Not all changes in color, shape, or texture can mean your dog needs to be seen immediately. 🐶🐾

If your dog has a high amount of mucus in its stools that could mean, there is inflammation in the colon. The signs of that are stool that is semi-formed or liquid, smaller amounts of stool, straining during defecation, and slight about of blood when passing the stool. Keep in mind dog f***s always has mucus in it, but stools with high amounts can lead your dog to discomfort. This does not mean that your fur baby is dying, it means that they have an upset stomach. Feel free to call us and make an appointment to make sure they are good and healthy.

Like humans a lot of different things show the same symptoms. Just because your pet is having these symptoms listed above does not only mean colitis.

Did you know there are a lot of human foods that are toxic for dogs? Everyone knows that chocolate is but there is a ton more! such as:
-Avocados, Cherries and wild berries, Grapes and Rasins, Tomatoes, Mushrooms, Onions and garlic, Rhubarb, Sugar-free gum and candy, Flavored water, Pudding snacks and ice cream, Coffee and caffeine, Tea and soda.

Know the signs of food poisoning in dogs:
-Vomiting, Diarrhea, Loss of appetite, Bloody stool, Seizures, Tremors, Hyperactivity, Lethargy, Lack of coordination, Brusing or bleeding, Blood in Urine, and Unsteadiness when walking or standing.
Keep in mind just like in humans, symptoms can mean a lot of things. Don't hesitate to call and ask about your fur babes! 🐾🐶
