Why do dogs love spring, but hate fleas and ticks? They’re ready to spring into action, but fleas and ticks always try to stick around! 🐾🌸🐾
As temperatures rise, pets drink more to stay cool ☀️. Streams and puddles can carry harmful bacteria, parasites, and toxins, leading to diseases like leptospirosis and giardia 🦠. Outdoor water bowls can spread dog flu and kennel cough 🐶. Always bring fresh water and a travel bowl when outdoors 🪻🌷.

Warmer weather also brings fleas, ticks, mosquitoes, and intestinal parasites 🦟. Fleas can cause itching and anemia, so use vet-recommended preventatives 🐾. Ticks can spread Lyme disease, so remove them quickly with fine-tipped tweezers after outdoor activities 🌳.

Mosquitoes transmit heartworm, which can be prevented with medication 💊. Intestinal parasites like hookworms and roundworms are more common outdoors; symptoms include diarrhea and weight loss 💩. Use prescription preventatives and have your pet’s f***l sample checked yearly 🩺. Avoid tall grass and wooded spots to keep your pet safe 💙.

🧬🎉 Happy National DNA Day! 🎉🧬

Did you know it’s not just for humans? Today’s the perfect excuse to celebrate the science that helps us understand what makes us, us — and that includes our furry family members too! 🐶🐱

Getting your pet’s DNA tested is more than just finding out their breed (though that part is super fun 🐾). It can reveal important info about their health, behavior traits, and even connect you to their long-lost relatives! 🧬❤️

So, in honor of , why not treat your four-legged friend to a little science? You might be surprised at what you discover!

📸 Drop a pic of your pet and tell us your wildest DNA test result or what you think their ancestry might be!

Happy Easter, everyone! 🐰🌸🥚
As you're celebrating with family, colorful eggs, and sweet treats, don't forget to keep an eye on your furry friends! 🐶🐱

Easter candy—especially chocolate 🍫 and anything sweetened with xylitol—is toxic to pets. Those adorable noses can sniff out even the best hiding spots, so make sure baskets are kept out of reach! 🧺🚫

Also, be cautious with plastic grass, small toys, and dyed eggs—they might look fun to us, but they can be dangerous if chewed or swallowed. ⚠️🐾

Let’s keep Easter joyful and safe for all our family members—two-legged and four-legged! ❤️

Feel free to share this to help spread the word! 📣

Why did the dog sit in the shade during spring? Because he didn’t want to be a hot dog! 🌭😄
As temperatures rise, heat stroke becomes a real concern for pets, especially when left in a parked car 🚗. Dogs and cats can’t regulate their body temperature as efficiently as humans, making them more susceptible to overheating ☀️.

“Never leave your pet unattended in a car, as heat stroke can happen within minutes”

Signs of heat stroke include excessive panting 😤, lethargy 💤, collapse, and difficulty breathing 🌬️. If you suspect your pet is experiencing heat stroke, get them to an emergency vet immediately 🏥.

🎉 Drum roll, please! 🥁🥁

We are SO excited to introduce the newest member of our team, the amazing Dr. Kayla Zink!!! 🎉

Dr. Zink is a proud Purdue University alum, and she just graduated from St. George’s University in Grenada in January 2025! 🎓 Fun fact: She conquered the second tallest mountain in Grenada 🏔️🇬🇩—talk about adventure! During her clinical rotations, she got to hang out with some pretty cool creatures, including a RHINO 🦏 (yep, she got to pet one!). She also has a biology degree and studied acupuncture at Chi University in Riddick, Florida! 🐾✨

Originally from Fort Wayne, Indiana, Dr. Zink has always known she wanted to be a vet—she even has a third-grade assignment where she wrote about becoming a veterinarian! 📝 Her passion for animals shines, and her favorite species to treat are small animals and exotics. Plus, she's your go-to expert for all things dental! 🦷

If Dr. Zink could choose between talking to animals or transforming into one, she'd definitely choose chatting with them. "I'd be way quicker in the exam room!" 😆

When she’s not at work, Dr. Zink loves coaching track and field 🏃‍♀️, hiking 🌲, gardening 🌸, and gaming 🎮! Fun fact #2: She's one of the FIRST female Fortnite pros to compete at a championship in LA! 😱👏

Dr. Zink is also the proud fur-mom to two kitties, Madeline and Ali, and she just adopted a new family member—Nigel! 🐱🎉

Let’s give a HUGE, warm welcome to Dr. Zink!!! We’re thrilled to have you on the team! 💖🙌

🎉 It’s April Fools’ Day! 🎉 It's time to have a little fun with your pets! 😜 Swap out their usual treat for a joint supplement or chew preventative and watch their reaction! 😆 Feeling bold? Take them to the vet instead of the park and see their confusion! 🤔 But beware... pets never forget a prank! 😏 You might be in for a little payback next year! 🐾😂

Happy National Mom and Pop Owners Day!🐾💙
Practicing Veterinary Medicine since 1987, Dr. Scott Taylor, aka pop, opened the Kendallville Animal Clinic on July 12,1995.🐾 His love and care for animals started at a young age on a small farm near Decatur, Indiana📍, where he practiced on his stuffed animals 🐻until emergency surgery was required to save the life of his grandmother's pig🐷. This successful surgery cemented his path to Veterinary Medicine.💙
In 1986, Pop grabbed the chance to do his externship in Ethiopia, Africa with Sudan Interior Mission🇪🇹. There he provided surgical and preventative medicine for domestic livestock as well as exotic animals like monkeys, cheetahs, and lions🦁. After Veterinary School Pop practiced large and small animal medicine in Mitchell, Indiana and then Auburn, Indiana, where he met mom. Little did he know he was caring for his future wife's dog. 🐶
Providing lifelong care for companion animals was the force behind the establishment of the Kendallville Animal Clinic.💙 He kept his head down, building his practice, when in January of 2000 Mom came back into his life. He remembered her dog more than her, typical Vet! 🤣They were married on May 28th, 2001💍 and later blessed with two daughters. The Taylor Family is committed to the best practice of Veterinary Medicine and the lifelong care of your pets. 🐾💙
