We would like to announce that KATE MCALINN is now offering riding lessons for horse owners. Non-boarders can trailer-in for a small fee. We are seeking a lesson horse and will announce when we can provide lessons to those without a horse.
Kate grew up in upstate New York, showing in 4H and hunters. She relocated to North Carolina to attend St. Andrew’s Presbyterian College and rode on their collegiate team.
After graduation, Kate worked on the hunter circuit for Harold Chopping, an Olympic rider for Canada. After a few years, she moved to Smithfield where she established her own successful lesson program at Hillcrest Farm, focusing on form to function in her lessons.
Kate loves teaching various disciplines including hunters, horsemanship, showmanship, ranch and western dressage, and also holds summer camps.
She is involved in coaching an English IEA team, a western IEA team, a YEDA team, and 4H. In addition to being an instructor and coach, she holds an Open judge's card, hosts a local show series, and organizes a virtual show series.
