This holiday is a fun pet holiday for us! Today is a great day to imagine what life would be like if our pets actually had opposable thumbs. Here are some things we think they would do and probably cause some havoc:

👍Throw away the vacuum
👎Cancel their appointments with their veterinarian
👍Open canned food
👍Play thumb wars

What do you think your pet would do if they suddenly grew opposable thumbs?

It's National Peanut Butter Lover's Day! Peanut butter can be a safe treat to feed your pet in moderation as it is high in fat (please make sure it does not contain xylitol)! Xylitol is an artificial sweetener that is highly toxic to dogs and this sweetener can also be called as birch bark extract, wood sugar and birch sugar.

Let's see pictures of your pet enjoying this creamy treat!

February 23rd is National Dog Biscuit Day! What better way to celebrate than making your own easy, homemade treats?! Our friends over at the ASPCA have a great recipe that only consists of 3 ingredients you probably already have in your house!

2 cups of flour (any kind will do!)
2 TBSP Peanut Butter (make sure Xylitol is NOT an ingredient!)
12 ounces plain yogurt (Greek usually has less sugar)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees, combine all ingredients, and let set for 5 minutes. Form small balls and place in muffin tins. Bake for 20 minutes, let cool, then share with your pup!

January 29th is Tuxedo Cat Appreciation Day; while the term is a common way of classifying these distinguished felines - it is not an actual breed, but a coat pattern. Tuxedo kitties usually exhibit qualities of being friendly, outgoing, playful, affectionate and intelligent. Tuxedo cats are known for forming strong bonds with their owners, and having a "dog-like" loyalty and eagerness to be with their humans.

During the month of January, we recognize Train Your Dog Month. What better time than when it's cold to stay warm inside and teach your pup some commands?

Here are some benefits of training your dog:
🐾Training provides mental stimulation which in turn may help prevent destructive behaviors, while also providing a sense of purpose.
🐾Commands like "stop" or "come" can help keep your dog safe by preventing them from being in dangerous situations.
🐾By improving communication and understanding, training helps strengthen the bond between dogs and their owners.
🐾Training can help build confidence in a dog who may be timid or fearful.

As winter nears, it's important to use ice melt that is pet-friendly! Regular ice melt can be jagged and cause irritations on your pets' paws. Some salt melts can cause burns on your pets due to the way the heat is generated. If ingested, regular melts can cause GI upset, and some may have toxic ingredients that can cause kidney failure, tremors, seizures or be fatal.

Always make sure the label says it's pet safe!
