When people ask me “aren’t you worried about your high drive male around your baby?” My answer will always continue to be “both Zuko and Zena will be the greatest friends and protectors to our child” Does he have more drive and energy than my female? Yes. Does that mean he cannot be controlled? Absolutely not. Both my husband and I will work together as a team to set not only our dogs, but our child up for success. Remember it’s not just about training your dogs new boundaries and rules; it’s also about showing and teaching your child how to act around them so both sides can be a success. So no, I’m not worried. Everyone will be ✨just fine✨
When Chewy aka Mister Pants for came to he could be quite explosive on the lead when seeing other dogs, cats, wildlife and even cars. Both his owners and I were very hard building up distance, durations and distractions to help set up Chewy for success. Many reps upon reps in all different environments. I remember his owners thinking we could never get to the point of walking past a filled dog park but I never stopped believing in them and they didn’t stop putting in the effort. Through their hard work and determination, we got there and I couldn’t be more proud of this team. 🙌🏼
My beautiful little things ✨
As I progress in my preganancy, I’m making sure to also prepare the dogs for how our things will be a bit different. In the near future we will have a little one and a stroller or mom holding a front carrier and the walk might not be as fast paced as before. However, we will always make sure to daily to set aside time to train, to play, to bond and to be a dog to keep them mentally and physically fufilled. This is my first human baby, yes, BUT Zena and Zuko were my first babies and their pawprints are engraved deeply on my heart. I know they will be the BEST big furry sibilings to our little one. 🤍
Little man, Archie! This feisty boy might be small but he has some big feelings about the world and that is OK. Letting him know the world can pass by and it doesn’t always call for a reaction. Let it become background noise and learn to settle. Building the bond and trust that his owner and I will have his back and advocate for him when necessary.
ECollar; here’s my outlook if it works for you and your pack and you are all happy together; then that is all that matters. Don’t let the negative comments and opinions take hold of you. Surround yourself and focus on the people who lift you up, support and encourage you. So thankful for the friends I’ve met in this community. 🤍
Happy New Year & thank you for all the beautiful memories 🫶🏼🎊
Play is such an important part of building your bond with your dog, BUT don’t rush it. Achieving that play can take some time and it does not happen overnight. Biggest lessons I’ve learned is to be patient, take the time to listen and observe to see what works best for you and your dog as a TEAM. I promise the reward is worth it in the long run. 🫶🏼
Come along with us to see Comedian Matt Rife, can’t wait to see Natural Selection Nov. 15 💯🎭🫶🏼
Group Place 🐾
I like inside the home to be a calm resting place. Not that there isn’t times for play and being silly, but having a calm state of mind and an off-switch in the house is important.
