Lydia was so excited to reunite with her fluff-ball, Ruby, who graduated from her puppy socialization course not too long ago! We always recommend safe, controlled socialization for puppies so that they grow up to be well adjusted members of society. This includes getting to play with other, age-appropriately vaccinated puppies so that they get used to other dogs of all shapes and sizes (within reason of course!). Today is Respect Your Cat Day! 🐱

Being a good cat parent means learning to speak their language. Here's how to show your feline friend the respect they deserve:

- Watch their tail - a swishing tail often means "time to stop"
- Notice their ear position - flattened ears signal overstimulation
- Pay attention to skin twitching - this could mean petting time is over
- Give them space when they walk away
- Let them come to you for attention
- Respect their "no" when they don't want to be held
- Provide hiding spots and high perches

Murphy was helping us laugh by making a funny face, but he was hospitalized for no laughing matter. Murphy contracted Leptospirosis, a dangerous bacterial infection that causes liver and kidney failure. He lost a ton of weight and his liver took the brunt of the attack. But this strong boy BEAT LEPTO and is alive to tell the tale.
🦠Dogs are infected due to exposure to infected wildlife urine, which is almost everywhere, or by drinking from standing water. And worse yet, this disease is zoonotic, meaning that it can spread from pets to humans. Please, take leptospirosis seriously and consider vaccination.
💉🐾The American Animal Hospital Association (AHAA) recently made the Leptospirosis vaccine core all over the country.
